Hi! We're Critical Interval: Archival Systems. Created last year, we're an artist-run org serving artists & their supporters in collections care, workflow management, and special preservation projects. We're providing consulting and project management services, teaching courses like Archiving for Artists (offered biannually), and developing a new kind of archival software for metadata management called ArcaLoom. Critical Interval's flagship course, Archiving for Artists, will take place in the month of July, with an info session June 15! This course is perfect for artists working in any medium, at any career stage. We cover archival standards & metadata, project management & digitization workflows, collection scoping, and discussions of ethics in archival practice. Class lectures are supported by small assignments, both creative and practical, meant to spark inspiration and discussion. Want to reserve your space in the course? You only need to put down a 50% deposit ($125) now—the rest is billed July 6. Just select “pay $125.00 now, $125.00 later” at checkout!

Announcing our newsletter, MEMORY BANKS. "Asked how he determines what he collects, Amani says: 'The things that they’ve kept from us. The stuff that, for every time someone is asking you to cite your sources, the archive is the source.'" * still/moving (@still.moving.co ) is the curatorial identity of artist Amani—a rapper, writer, producer, and event organizer from Brooklyn, New York. Currently, he runs a Sunday series called Reading, Screening, and Talking, which is “exactly what it sounds like”—a reading and a screening, followed by a discussion. He has recently published a book of poems, prayer rug, created through a partnership between @theschoolofmakingthinking and @eurekapressny . His music is available for streaming and purchase at amani.bandcamp.com. Follow @still.moving.co on Instagram for event announcements. * Interested in reading the whole article? A preview of the "metadata loom"—a core feature of ArcaLoom, the software platform we're building. While we are working on a more informative demo video, we couldn't wait to share a few snapshots of this prototype by software dev & artist @j.palindrome ! All shots are different views of the same collection.
