The Passenger last week was @cringetrender 🔥

Siiick episode with Cringetrender - stoked for The Dream EP that was just released. Thanks for coming in Bedlam, was a pleasure to learn about you and nerd out about music.

Check out Cringetrender live at BLAK NITE May 1st at @carclew — joining other great Blak artists @barkaa__ , @nathanmaymusic @klaspelxo Sandy Abbott & @whoissvvlo
📻 Listen back on the Three D Player app. ————————— Cringetrender is the musical project of Bedlam Rigney (it/its), a nonbinary artist from the western suburbs of Kaurna Yerta. With an eclectic, unapologetic style that’s equal parts raw and heartfelt, Bedlam creates music that challenges conventions while holding space for honesty, healing, and self-expression.
Raised in a musical family, Bedlam learned harmony and songcraft alongside its siblings, writing its first song, Murra. Politics have always been intertwined—rooted in lived experience, community, and resilience. After leaving school at seventeen and navigating homelessness at twenty, Bedlam found chosen family among queer and disabled creatives who helped shape its voice as an artist and advocate.
Bedlam also performs in Lakinyeri—named  after the clan groups of the Ngarrindjeri Nation—with its father Shane and sister Brooke Rigney, strengthening cultural and creative ties through music.
Under the Cringetrender banner, Bedlam has released the EPs dads place and dissociation and distortion, and in 2024 recorded its debut album Take Your Meds through Carclew’s Emerging First Nations Creatives program. Another EP is in production through Space to Create at the ANU School of Music.
The name Cringetrender reclaims the slur “transtrender,” embracing nonbinary identity and the beauty of being “cringe” in a world that demands conformity. Through its art, Bedlam celebrates imperfection, queerness, and survival with fearless vulnerability and a voice that refuses to be quiet. ————————— ✨ Every Friday from 4–5pm, The Passenger celebrates the voices that shape our creative community.
Each week, a new host curates an hour of music - tracing the threads of connection, influence, and inspiration that run through their world.

We're hustling as much as we can to help @cringetrender meet an important goal: a replacement wheelchair. The gofundme is over halfway, and we're pushing the community to bridge the gap! Please buy some fundraiser items or merch from our store, put your spare change in the jar, or head straight to the gofundme page (check our stories)

Hey yall, I come crawling back to community with a request. Last time I asked for wheelchair repair money, it was to fix something rather immediate. My guy quoted me at the time for 1.5k for a full repair, and of course, I had a 10th of that. I am once again housebound and getting around is going to be quite the painful experience until I can get at the very least the batteries changed over, which in itself will be a whole thousand. I know yall are so good to me, so thank you in advance for any help yall can give, be it financially or social media-y.

MEDIA RELEASE On October 28, Bedlam Rigney — known under the artist name Cringetrender — steps into Yil Lull Studio at the ANU School of Music, joined by father, songwriting partner, and resident guitarist Shane Rigney, to begin recording The Dream EP. This six-track project explores the surreal, tender, and chaotic worlds of sleep and dreaming. Blending hyperpop, soul/funk, and pub rock, The Dream EP will expand on Cringetrender’s genre-bending sound and emotionally charged storytelling. The EP will include the previously released track “Slumber Baby,” a teenpop-inspired banger that has already had an exceptional reception in live shows. Music video can be found here. The Dream EP is proudly supported by Space To Create, a First Nations music residency program led by Will Kepa, providing Indigenous artists with mentorship, studio access, and professional development to bring ambitious creative visions to life. The Dream EP is scheduled for release in January 2026.
