I’m moving my studio out of Atlantic Mills after 4 years of making things in unit 703 (that’s longer than I’ve ever lived in the same home my whole life)! I’ll be posting a bunch of items I’ve got ready to ship and dropping some new hand drawn panties ;)
I’m staying in Providence, and I feel very lucky to have spent so much time in such an iconic place. My late dear friend Katie used to love to touch a brick on an old building and say “how many people do you think have touched this brick” and it helped mold the way I view the world now. I love to imagine and feel the presence of those who have been in the spaces I pass through before me.
That being said, I can’t wait to nest into my new space, start fresh, and stretch out a little.
emily took this picture of me checking on a rust transfer of a rain gutter this September for my solo show. I like the photo for various reasons: the obviously perfect composition, evidence of returning warmth, immortalization of my unhinged commitment to a project, and my trust in Providence to not mess with the pile of objects I stacked in the middle of a parking lot for the sake of experimenting. It turned out cool, I was able to transfer the words “NO” and “TO WATERWAYS” onto silk before adding another print to the piece.

The timeline of becoming closer friends while receiving updates on Mary’s bone graft & soft tissue healing was ((unsurprisingly) a pleasure ((in pain) !! Almost as satisfying as it was to apply the more technical eye I picked up from my research done last spring, shadowing an Oral Surgeon as well as a Dental Lab Technician in Salem, MA. Thankfully Mary held onto her extracted front tooth long enough to make a duplicate in wax before placing it in the hands of another artist just as bright eyed to work with her teeth.
After months of ruminating & healing & in between conversations about a solid silver tooth in lieu, how special to see you smile for the first time with this piece on.
