May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual event that amplifies the importance of protecting mental health and solutions that can mitigate anxiety, stress, and burnout. This year’s theme, More Good Days Together, encourages reflection on what a “good day” looks like, on both an individual and community level. This empathy-building exercise can power advocacy, education, and community engagement. In 2026, protecting mental health is more important than ever, including for the millions of employees who are neurodivergent. According to Calm Health’s 2023 Workplace Mental Health Trends report, 58% of neurodivergent employees feel nervous, anxious, and stressed more than half the time or nearly all the time, compared with 42% of the general population. 91% of neurodivergent employees mask their symptoms at work, according to a 2024 survey from EduBirdie, while only 42% reveal being neurodivergent when necessary. This drives home the need for reasonable accommodations, more inclusive hiring practices, and destigmatization of neurodiversity to make workplaces more supportive for employees who are neurodivergent. Creative Support supports mental health in the workplace through our coaching and mentoring services for neurodivergent professionals, as well as HireDifferent Academy, our training and certification program, which provides employers with the information and practices they need to create a neuroinclusive environment that prioritizes psychological safety and employee well-being. We believe making workplaces more accessible and accommodating is conducive to protecting mental health. Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work, an annual event from the International Labor Organization (ILO) that focuses not only on physical safety, but on protecting mental health in the workplace. The psychosocial work environment, or the way that work is designed, organized, and managed, is just as important as physical safety, due to the way it impacts mental health. This is even more important for the millions of employees who are neurodivergent, who often encounter additional challenges in the workplace, such as stigma, concerns about disclosure, and communication barriers. World Day for Safety and Health at Work coincides with Stress Awareness Month and Autism Awareness Month, which also focus in part on making employment and workplaces more inclusive and accommodating for people who are neurodivergent. Creative Spirit encourages safe and healthy work environments by working directly with companies to help them become neuroinclusive, as well as providing coaching and mentoring to the neurodivergent professionals they employ. To learn more about our training, hiring, and coaching services, visit our website for more information and contact us at [email protected] #HireDifferent #WorldDayforSafetyandHealthatWork #StressAwarenessMonth #Neurodiversity

Disability rights advocates have waited two years for ADA requirements that would make mobile apps and websites fully accessible for people with disabilities, under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The regulations, finalized in 2024, are set to take effect tomorrow, April 24. Nevertheless, some in the disabilities community are concerned that the Justice Department will implement changes to the rule before it goes into effect, according to a DisabilityScoop report. These concerns stem from the Justice Department indicating last Spring that it planned on issuing a notice to “reconsider whether some of the regulatory provisions imposed by the April 24, 2024, rule could be made less costly.” Online accessibility, both on websites and mobiles, is crucial to the employment and job-searching process, including for the millions of Americans who are neurodivergent and/or have physical disabilities. You can read more about the new rule at the link in our story. #HireDifferent #ADA #WebCompliance #digitalaccessibility #Accessibility #Neurodiversity

Large Language Models (LLMs) are AI models trained on large datasets to understand human language, enabling them to answer questions, summarize, translate, and generate content. A growing number of companies are now using LLMs to create “buyer” or “user” personas (fictional, AI-based personas that provide insight into a target demographic). The benefits of these personas have the potential to go beyond marketing and advertising, and make products more accessible for the millions of people worldwide who are neurodivergent. In this article, we explore how LLMs can help companies enhance their understanding of neurodiversity, avoid misconceptions, and create a secure, accommodating workplace for neurodivergent professionals.
