Join us for a relaxed and welcoming knitting drop in at the Small Arms Inspection Building with Rosa Wharton. This session is a casual, supportive space for anyone looking to make progress on a current knitting project. Beginners can drop-in to learn basics from casting on, knit and purl stitches, casting off, increases and decreases. Materials will be provided for those trying out the medium. Think of it as a friendly knitting circle with guidance for beginners on hand rather than a structured class. You are welcome to stay for a few minutes or the full session, whatever feels right for you. Rosa Wharton is a mixed media textile artist and environmental scientist originally from Barbados. Her work explores unity in diversity, combining vibrant colour, expressive textures, sustainable practices, traditional techniques, and contemporary approaches. Sign up in bio! Two days before the gallery opens, we're hosting a panel with three artists and community members behind the project, Robert MacAskill, Gabriella Bank, and John Danahy, in conversation with moderator Jesse DeJager from Credit Valley Conservation. Expect an open discussion about process, collaboration, and the community that formed around this site over a decade. The evening closes with a screening of Robert MacAskill's new short film.
