Creative Factory 2.0 is the next chapter in how Middlesbrough supports the artists, creatives and innovators who shape our town’s identity. It’s more than one building - it’s a growing network of sustainable spaces that create. Studios, living spaces, workshops and venues where creativity can take root and grow.
Our aim is simple - to make Boro a place where creativity drives regeneration. We’ll be sharing more soon about available spaces, studio opportunities and how to get involved. Renovation is well underway as we create three live/work apartments for creatives in Middlesbrough 👀 They’ll be ready in April and we’re now inviting Expressions of Interest.
Each will combine:
• Affordable residential space
• Dedicated studio/work space
• A growing community of creatives who want to be part of a positive change
• A base in the heart of Middlesbrough
• Access to our community space to run events, host workshops and more!

Big moment for boro today! Middlesbrough has been named as one of nine finalists for UK City of Culture.
Feels like a proper nod to everything that’s been building here for years. The people, the ideas and the willingness to get stuck in and make things happen.

We’re buzzing to be part of the first ever Middlesbrough Storytelling Festival - bringing art, community and local stories together in the heart of Boro.
We’re inviting people to help shape two brand new murals that will be painted onto our new residential homes in central Middlesbrough with the amazing @nocciolathedrawer and @hannahcampionartist
These workshops are all about exploring what “home” means to our communities - through stories, colour and creativity. The ideas, conversations and artwork created during the sessions will directly inspire the final large-scale murals.
No artistic experience needed, just come along, get involved and share your story with us at 91 Princes Road, TS1 4BN:

The Middlesbrough Storytelling Festival takes place in June, with performances, workshops and family activities happening across the town, culminating in a major celebration at Centre Square, MIMA and Middlesbrough Central Library on Saturday 27 June 2026.

We spoke to @bobbybenjamin creator of @spagnorth about his recent residency at No.46. Since December he has been putting on a series of pop up creative cultural happenings ranging from art exhibitions, poetry nights, music, swap shops, book launches and sonic arts - we’ve loved every second of it!

What a day Saturday was! Three floors packed with people and spaces full of creativity. It was brilliant to see such a mix of media, artists, communities and energy all coming together under one roof.
A huge thank you to @bobbybenjamin for curating such a special day and making it happen and thanks to all the incredible artists who performed and exhibited their work - you made it what it was.

It’s been a proper renovation job opening the spaces up, bringing the light back in and giving the buildings a new lease of life. We’ve focused on making the spaces bright and flexible for people to live and work from.

These homes were previously standing empty and falling into disrepair. Now they’re being brought back to life as affordable spaces for creatives to live and work.
This project is part of a wider effort to support the regeneration of Gresham, Middlesbrough whilst generating opportunities for creatives to build their practice properly and be more connected to a creative community. Yep - finally no more working from the kitchen table 🙏
