What a special day for Creative Dunblane ✨ Last week, we officially re-opened the newly transformed Burgh Chambers with an unforgettable visit from acclaimed poet and former Scots Makar @jackiekaypoet . Guests including the Lord Provost of Stirling, Rosemary Fraser, local business owners, volunteers and community members joined us to celebrate this exciting new chapter for the Burgh Chambers - now home to the @dunblanedigitalmakerspace and Community Co:Working Hub. Jackie treated guests to poetry readings before touring the renovated building, including the newly named Jackie Kay Room, recognising her outstanding contribution to literature and the arts. The celebrations continued into the evening with a sold-out poetry event featuring readings from Jackie Kay, local poet @chrispowici , as well as talented young writers Lexie Dobson and Miliana Ratu from two local high schools. As Jackie Kay said: “It is uplifting to know what community spirit can achieve!” A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped made this possible! What an absolute privilege and a moment of pure joy it was to meet @jackiekaypoet in Dunblane for the grand opening of @creativedunblane . The celebration was made even more special as Jackie officially opened the space by cutting the ribbon to a room dedicated in her honour—Jackie Kay’s Room. Jackie also read and performed some of her poems and told so many beautiful, funny and impactful stories. ‘April Sunshine’ captured in this little video celebrating her parents touched me the most. So happy I saw Jackie perform it with so much tenderness, warmth and love for her parents.
