Come out and show your love for the @artesianon13th ! I ❤ Artesian - A Night of Colour Saturday, April 25, 2026 Doors 6PM, Show 7PM Tickets can be bought through the Artesian's website! Come support the Artesian, a lovely venue and an integral part of our arts community. The night is sure to be a beautifully mixed bag of performance art and music! And... Creative City Centre is so happy to be presenting: Men At Word! Coltrane Manz, Rob Caleval, and Austin Ahenakew will each be taking the stage to share some of their poetry during the night. About the poets: Coltrane Manz (he/him) is secretly three raccoons in a cardigan masquerading as a poet. His work has received numerous accolades, most notably that "yeah, it's alright" as said by his mother. Most of his work is a vehicle for the big feelings that come with being several mammals in a vast world, juggling themes of frustration and dread with the state of the world, but also trying to plumb the depths of wonder and majesty that can be found in the minutiae in between. Rob Caleval is a musician, author, and spoken word poet hailing from Regina. His poetry and short stories have been published in print and on line, but his main passion is for spoken word performance. His work encompasses a wide variety of themes including social inequity, the cost of individualism and isolation, the disappearance of kindness, and humanity's complex relationship with technology. Or sometimes he'll just write something because he finds it funny. When he's not performing, he can be found working as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher, playing drums for his band, Birthday Cake Trebuchet, or traveling with his wife, Erin. Austin "The Noble Savage" Ahenakew has a unique style that weaves rhythm into storytelling and announces an urgent truth from the perspective of an Indigenous youth. Bringing an unapologetic approach to Indigenous struggles, abuse, PTSD and how skin colour is viewed. He brings sweet words to stage without sugar coating any part of the truth.

The Time Capsule Approach: Merging Poetry and Performance A Workshop by The Merchant Of Poetry @the_merchant_of_poetry Thursday April 23rd, 2026 7:00PM - 9:00PM *Doors open at 6:30PM Location: Cathedral Neighbourhood Centre - in the upstairs Craft Room/Meeting Room In this workshop I encourage participants to embody the events of their poems for the time they are on stage. To make the poem a time capsule of the moment which you can return to when you perform then let it go when you finish. I employ acting techniques, like using your body to empower the voice, creating a story arch in the poem, and the development of a poetic persona to separate yourself from your work. This approach encourages an active emotional performance while also leaving space for psychological safety - The Merchant Of Poetry This workshop is free to attend, but please register in advance so we can plan seating! Register on our website or link in bio! You can find out more about The Merchant Of Poetry on our post for the open mic and our website event page! #creativecitycentre #spokenword #yqr #spokenwordworkshop
