Introducing David Schoonover as John Brooke! David Schoonover is thrilled to perform at Creative Cauldron for the first time! A Doctoral of Musical Arts candidate in Voice Performance at Shenandoah Conservatory, David focuses his research on 21st-century American opera, specifically Ricky Ian Gordon's adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath. He holds a Master of Music from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. A versatile performer, David has received multiple awards at state and regional NATS competitions in both classical and musical theater categories. His solo concert appearances include Messiah (Handel), Requiem (Fauré), Mass in C Minor (Beethoven), Seven Last Words of Christ (Debois), and Five Mystical Songs (Vaughn Williams). His favorite stage credits include the title roles in Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera, and Romeo and Juliet, as well as Billy Bigelow (Carousel) and Schaunard (La Bohème). Local performance credits include Cake Eaters (The Welders), The Pliant Girls (Theatre Prometheus & Nu Sass), Nate the Great (Imagination Stage), Seasons of Light (Discovery Theatre), The Seaside Adventures of Zoey Brine (BCPA), and Noises Off (University of Maryland).
