On Mount Olympus, just below the highest peak, there’s this tiny stone chapel called Prophet Elias (Προφήτης Ηλίας).
It was first built back in the 16th century by Saint Dionysios, right on the ruins of an ancient temple.
Fun fact: at 2,803 meters, it’s considered the highest Orthodox church in the world. ☦️
The building itself is super simple. Rough stone walls, a low doorway, a few icons inside. Nothing fancy, but the location makes it really special.
Every year on July 20th, people hike up here to celebrate the feast of Prophet Elias.
The hike is not an easy one. You’ve got to push through some steep trails and rocky paths – but standing up there is something else.
For us, it was honestly an unforgettable experience. Standing at that height, right by this little chapel, with the Olympus peaks all around us and the view stretching forever… it felt magical 🧿🇬🇷🤍

Built in the 16th century by Venetians to guide ships, this iconic lighthouse was later given a minaret twist by the Ottomans. Now, it’s a perfect blend of history and coastal vibes, making it a must shoot spot for any videographer!
