AYDC Public Art Center by Atelier XI is a cultural complex in Guiyang designed as a constellation of sculptural pavilions immersed within the natural landscape. The project’s strongest feature is the transformation of a single architectural program into multiple interconnected spaces that encourage independent creativity, community interaction, and flexible cultural use.
Inspired by the karst mountain caves of Guizhou Province, the pavilions are carved with dramatic pointed arches and fluid interior voids shaped by light, shadow, and structural tension. The Xima Library, Ginkgo Chapel, and Dali Stage each respond to different natural elements including water, sky, and starlight, creating immersive atmospheres for reading, meditation, and performance.
The architecture blends geometric clarity with organic inspiration, allowing each pavilion to emerge naturally from the terrain while maintaining a strong sculptural identity. Reflective surfaces, soft natural lighting, and carefully framed landscape views create a poetic relationship between built form and environment.
Rather than dominating the site, the project behaves like a cultural landscape where architecture, art, and nature coexist in balance.
