The carbon footprint results in CRAFT-IT4SD show that a large share of fashion’s climate impacts occurs during the production of new garments. Reducing the need for new production is therefore a key pathway for lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Sustainable fashion requires new business models.
The CRAFT-IT4SD deliverable D5.1 shows that sufficiency-based approaches, longer product lifetimes, and reduced production volumes are essential for lowering environmental impact in fashion.
At the same time, micro-enterprises and SMEs need stronger support to scale these models and compete with fast fashion.
