You are invited to the final event for the Indigenous Voices of the Land speaker series. Register via QR code on flyer.
What would our disciplines look like if Indigenous voices were brought in not as tokens not only for a land acknowledgment before the real work begins, but as genuine partners in how we think, design, and learn from the very start?
Over the course of this series, we have been sitting with that question together. We have heard from knowledge holders, practitioners, and community members whose relationships to the land carry a depth that no textbook has yet captured. And we have begun slowly and humbly to understand what it means to design in relationship rather than in extraction.
Now we arrive at the final panel of the semester, and the question turns toward the future:
What do Education, Institutions, and the Path Forward look like when Indigenous voices are centered from the beginning?
We are honored to close this series in conversation with:
Chris Cornelius
Anjelica Gallegos
Elsa MH Mäki
Three voices who are actively shaping what that future can look like in practice, in pedagogy, and in the institutions we are all part of.
22 APRIL Activities and Zoom:
1:00 – 3:00 PM Quilt Square Making + Food
Come early. Share some food. Make something with your hands. The quilt squares we create together will be a collective artifact of this series a reminder that community, like ecology, is built stitch by stitch. I will provide the materials (thanks to UPENN) need and will send your patch work squares back to UPENN to sew together as a symbol of out collaborative efforts.
3:00 – 5:00 PM Panel Conversations via Zoom
Chris Cornelius, Anjelica Gallegos, and Elsa MH Mäki in conversation on Education, Institutions, and the Path Forward. Register via QR code on flyer.

Amazing job from these 4th-year students yesterday at the @cppla@cppenv midterm review of the BSLA Capstone Philippines urban design studio! The students immersed themselves in a landscape, ecosystem and culture absolutely different than from what they know - and they are going there! They are in it! - having inspired, valuable conversations and learning by doing - that will further enhance the environment, community spaces and wellbeing of Lubao Pampanga. So incredibly proud of what this student group has accomplished thus far! Thank you to #designworkshop and Ken Woodall for all your help, collaborative energy, and support on this complex and meaningful international design initiative. It soooo helps to be working with an intelligent, creative and supportive team. Much more to come! Stay tuned bravely curious people! 🤜🏻🤛🏻 #internationalstudio #midtermreview #philippines #studentsarerockingit [swipe and check out their work in 7-104]

Congratulations to @cppla student Camille Abe @camiii_abe on being selected to present at this year’s Cal Poly Pomona RSCA Conference! Her poster was on exploring on-campus student family housing design solutions, which was part of a Spring 2025 third-year landscape design studio headed by @keijiues in collaboration with Student Affairs.
Hello all students submitting National ASLA Student Awards this year and those registered in my LA 4782W Evolving Issues Design Communications course - I am participating in a National ASLA virtual webinar on March 10, 2026 - 10:00am to 11:00am PST. It will be a candid conversation with jurors, past winners, and faculty advisors on how to move from a strong studio project to a winning submission. You’ll learn what jurors look for, common pitfalls to avoid, and how to clearly communicate design intent, process, and impact.

Please join us in supporting the research efforts of CPP MLA students in the Chino Basin.
Master’s students in the CPP MLA LEAD Studio are mapping where inland flooding occurs throughout the basin, especially after the recent week-long rain. We are seeking your help in identifying community-reported flooding locations in the cities of Montclair, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario. Join us in the important effort by filling out our mini survey (only takes you less than five minutes) if you visit, live, or work in these areas and observed local flooding. Please also feel free to forward this to those in your network who may be able to help.
Photos are especially valuable to our study — particularly images of observed ponding, street flooding, or drainage issues that persist hours after a storm. Please see the images below for examples.
Your insights will directly inform the project team’s analysis and help identify the most suitable locations for small-scale stormwater infrastructure projects.
Thank you for contributing to community-based research that supports a more resilient Chino Basin.
