Every single person is a musical instrument, and together, we create something powerful 💥🎶
Returning to conduct @cppchoirs reminded me why this work has always meant so much to me. Music is more than something you study; it’s something you feel, practice and bring to life. That’s what #BecomingByDoing looks like at @calpolypomona .
Experience it for yourself when our combined choirs perform Carmina Burana on Saturday, May 2 at 4 p.m. 🎶 Follow @cppmusicdept for more.
Hello Everyone! It’s been a while since I have posted anything but I wanted to share that I have my senior recital this Friday at 11 am in the Cal Poly Pomona Recital Hall. This program is something super special and unique for me. It is a culmination of the hard work I have put in with my amazing voice teacher, Dr. Harrison and my incredible collaborative pianist, Dr. Iris Shiotsuki. I am excited for you to hear the hard work we have done, all semester long. Thank you and I hope to see you there.
p.s you might see some familiar faces with me on stage 😉
Shout out to my good friend Karina for the amazing photo she took of me

🌟Student Spotlight & Senior Recital🌟
Theresa Mata, Mezzo-Soprano
“Through Music, I Cherish You”
Join us in celebrating the musical journey of graduating senior Theresa Mata (B.M. Performance, Mezzo-Soprano) in her heartfelt recital Through Music, I Cherish You. With a vibrant program featuring works by Bach, Bizet, Duke Ellington, Jobim, and more, Theresa brings her passion, artistry, and diverse influences—ranging from Christina Aguilera to Fleetwood Mac—to the stage.
Theresa’s musical path has taken her from childhood violin lessons and show choir at Arcadia High to international tours with the Citrus Singers and, more recently, meaningful performances with CPP’s Chamber Singers. Her senior recital is not only a culmination of her studies but a dedication to her grandmother and a celebration of the connections music fosters.
🌟 As featured in the Music Department Student Spotlight, Theresa shares:
“Music is a means of connecting with people… a home where I can truly be myself and create music with others.”
Come experience an evening filled with heart, talent, and the story of a young artist ready to take the next stage.
