Today as we celebrate Mother's Day, we remember the sacrifices' our Mothers made for us, the love they showed, and how they helped shape the people we have become.

Yesterday I spent several hours with the team at the Kamloops Wildfire Centre.
Today Fire Chief Brian Lauzon toured me through the Chase Fire Department during their Open House. What a great turnout with lots of folks coming out for the BBQ, the door prize draws and of course seeing all of the equipment there to keep folks safe in the community.
I have to say I’m totally impressed with the entire operation in Chase, and was so glad to have the opportunity to see it for myself.
This morning I had the opportunity to spend time with the folks at at BC Wildfire Service, and the Kamloops Fire Centre.
I was impressed with the embrace of new technology, as well as the experience level with the people that are there.
It's just basically a total restructuring of the BC wildfire service as it is now becoming a year-round operation. The overall level of professionalism, of the men and women who work for the BC Wildfire Service, is immense.

Today marked the opening of the 17th FreshCo in BC, and the 160th FreshCo in Canada. As they continue to expand, another new FreshCo store will open in Langford, in June.
Last year we lost 138 workers last year from on-the-job incidents and exposure to toxic elements. Every worker in BC deserves a safe workplace, and to return home to their loved ones. Today during this National Day of Mourning, in BC, we honour those killed or injured on the job.
