"Voice of the Hoosiers" Don Fischer emceed, IU cheerleaders and Hoosier the Bison brought the hype, and of course, fans lined up for photos with the CFP National Championship trophy.

Nearly 400 fourth graders erupted into cheers when the lights went down and "Doctors" Rob and Brian emerged from the shadows. Over the next 60 minutes, they led our IDOE-aligned program, the Science of Light and Sound, to the delight of the entire room. The band has opened for jazz legend Branford Marsalis, performed at Carmel Jazz Fest, and backed esteemed Indianapolis vocalists Goldie, Marielle Sellars, Blair Clark and other notable artists. Their 2023 debut single “Steppin’” is available on all major streaming platforms.

Sears is a dancer, choreographer and founder of Justin Sears Dance Foundation. His contemporary dance project explores addiction recovery through embodied storytelling, video projections and recorded testimonials to interpret the real-life experiences of individuals who have journeyed through substance abuse to recovery. Created in collaboration with Margo Korn, Amanda Hoover, Pulse Dance Theatre and Avenues Recovery Center Indianapolis, the piece portrays a progression from isolation and suffering to community and hope, aiming to reduce stigma while highlighting the transformative power of recovery communities.

Special Guest: Local singer-songwriter Meg Cristeen will open the show. Known for performing solo on ukulele, the songwriter and versatile crooner has drawn comparisons to classic country stars of decades past.

Our final free Student Matinee of the season featured tonight's performer, Jake Shimabukuro. He shared with students about the importance of being humble, grateful and kind. They wanted to know if his fingers hurt from playing all the time. He said yes – but that he loves playing so much that it's not going to stop him.

Morimoto is a professional dancer with Fort Wayne Ballet and will be joined by colleagues for the performance. Her project is a contemporary dance work inspired by her cross-cultural experience of moving from Japan to the United States at age 14, highlighting the contrasts between Japanese values of humility, harmony and community and American ideals of individuality, boldness and self-expression. The dancers’ costumes will reflect the cultural differences, and prerecorded audio will include Western orchestral music and an original collage of everyday sounds from Japan.
