🔥 MAD PRIDE 2024 💥 Each year we keep growing (‼️⁉️😱) and each year we meet people who tell us just how important these psych-free, Mad spaces are for them to grieve, breathe and be together. It is an honor to help organise a day that seems to mean so much to so many. Some snaps from the day for all those who couldn’t make it… a day full of hope, lunacy and solidarity ❤️‍🔥 We had two packed out workshops from the Harm Reduction Hub @release_drugs and @lewisham_anti_raids , great and informative stalls from @dandeliondiy , @madeupkitchen and @southwarkcopwatch as well as the new political education newspaper on the block, from @howtocatchapigacab . Thank you also to comrades from @safeonlyltd who provided a beautiful decompression space throughout the afternoon for whoever wanted to chill 😎 Delicious food from @dalstonsolidaritycafe throughout the day as well as Mad comrades and besties bringing the baked goods through 🧁 🛏️ Bedpush photos go HARDDD, loada Mad comrades blocking the road and letting our screams be heard after being silenced in the asylum for so long! Shoutout to @transactionbloc for the banner that really helped us keep the road for the lunatics!!! To top it all off, we dropped off food and the heartfelt letters people wrote throughout the day to every ward in the Maudsley at the end, to let our incarcerated comrades know we are thinking of them. Hoping our friends inside this year will be joining us at Mad Pride 2025, thinking of you, always. 💥 PALESTINE AND PSYCHIATRY ZINE 🇵🇸 ‘In 1948, zionists committed the massacre in Deir Yassin that would symbolise the beginning of the Nakba. On the ruins of the village, in the homes they had not blown apart, they built the Kfar Shaul Mental Health Centre. Is there a more apt analogy for the relationship between zionism and psychiatry?’ Thank you to everyone who came to our workshop at @dalstonsolidaritycafe last week! The workshop was based on the research we did for our Psychiatry’s Role in the Occupation of Palestine zine, which we hope can be a useful resource in the ongoing fight against the genocide and occupation in Palestine at the hands of the zionist entity. Our zine lays out: 📕 The role psychiatry plays in labelling colonised people as in need of ‘civilising’ and occupying 📕 Current methods of zionist subjugation invented by psychiatry 📕 Teva, Betterhelp and other israeli and wellness organisations 📕 Anti-zionist disability justice 📕 A critique of the human rights framework and psychiatry as ‘benevolent’ arms of imperialism 📕 How western pathologisation is used to erode solidarity and delegitimise resistance We will have these printed zines at Mad Pride on Sunday, 14th July in Camberwell Green, so please come along ❤️‍🔥 The online PDF will be uploaded in a few weeks time!
