Jessica Klimp, 45, and her husband, Jason Klimp, 47, are accused of keeping their four adopted children in dog cages and restraining them with a homemade straitjacket. The couple has pleaded no contest to the charges. Authorities began investigating in February 2024 while the family was staying at a rental home in Tennessee, after one of the children was hospitalized suffering from severe dehydration and malnutrition. Following the investigation, Michigan State Police executed a search warrant at the couple’s home and reportedly discovered a homemade straitjacket, security alarms attached to a bedroom door, and dog cages. The couple also has four biological children, though authorities have not alleged any abuse involving them. In October 2025, the pair pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated child abuse and were sentenced to 10 years in prison. Prosecutors say any sentence tied to the new charges is expected to run concurrently with the previous sentence.

BREAKING: The South Carolina Supreme Court will allow a new trial for Alex Murdaugh. He was convicted three years ago of murdering his wife and son at the family's property in June 2021. The new trial comes as they documented jury tampering and alleged jury rigging at the first trial. Becky Hill, one of the court clerks, reportedly showed sealed evidence photos to journalists, lied about it in court, and used her position to promote a book she wrote about the trial.
Maris Nichols, 25, is a high school biology teacher in Georgia and has been arrested for two counts of sexual assualt by a person with supervisory or disciplinary authority. She allegedly sexually abused one of her students on two occasions. One time was reportedly inside a classroom closet, and the other was inside a car parked in a residential driveway. The school district announced that a female teacher was placed on leave pending an investigation, but could not confirm if it was Nichols.
Kelvin Evans, the man involved in the theft of pop sensation Beyoncé’s unreleased music, entered a guilty plea on Tuesday morning. Evans was advised that by pleading guilty, he would be giving up key constitutional rights, including the right to a jury trial, the right to remain silent, and the right to confront witnesses. The court also explained that the plea could carry significant consequences, including impacts on probation or parole and potential future sentencing enhancements. The defendant acknowledged that he understood the terms and confirmed that his decision was made voluntarily. The prosecution then began outlining the factual basis for the charges before the court.
