Sanctuary City is presented today at the French Institute of Cameroun. It was created in 2023 with Counterpoints Arts, for the neighborhood of Kypseli, Athens, in a curatorial by @niovi_zc and @almirkoldzic - come rediscover this work tonight!

Το έργο τους αγγίζει θέματα όπως η αίσθηση του ανήκειν, ο ξεριζωμός και η ταυτότητα, δημιουργώντας εμβυθιστικές εμπειρίες που προκαλούν σκέψη και συναισθηματική σύνδεση. These days we are reminded, more than ever, of the work "Sanctuary City" realised in the public space of Kypseli, in 2023, by the visual artist Eirini Linardaki. ***Sanctuary city (meaning in north america) --> a city whose municipal laws tend to protect unauthorized immigrants from deportation or prosecution, despite federal immigration law.*** We will continue advocating for open societies, safe neighbourhoods that can function as sanctuary cities, just like Kypseli did some years ago when it became a safe home to the new citizens of this Athens. ------------------------------------------------------ The work was commissioned by Counterpoints Greece and was curated by Niovi Zarampouka-Chatzimanou and Almir Koldzic.

As the world continues to watch a catastrophe that has unfolded for over 75 years and intensified in the past year. While governments fail to act, the global demand for justice remains steadfast, calling for the safety, dignity, and sovereignty of the Palestinian people. In the face of oppression, art has long been a tool of resistance, a force that speaks truth to power, preserves memory, and fuels movements for change. An Artist’s Manual Against Apartheid (AAMAA), a new open-source resource by @shubbakfestival , arms artists and cultural workers with the means to resist through creativity. From cultural resistance strategies to digital activism, AAMAA offers practical guidance and reflective tools to challenge injustice and imagine a liberated future. As a co-commissioning partner, @counterpointsarts stands in solidarity with this initiative, ensuring that acts of artistic defiance are documented, amplified, and never forgotten. Join us this Saturday, May 3 between 12:00 and 15:30 PM at the Bath House of the Winds (8 Kyrristou, 105 56 Plaka) for the opening of the group exhibition Hyperhidrosis: Sweating Together. A collaboration between the Museum of Modern Greek Culture, ATOPOS cvc x Office of Hydrocommons that explores sweating as both a biological and symbolic process, highlighting the fragile balances that govern human society and the natural environment. Through this original metaphor, the exhibition creates a dialogue with the monument of the Bath House of the Winds, drawing attention to the philosophy of the Ottoman public bath as a model of social and environmental ecology and inclusion, where the body and the community co-exist in an ongoing cycle of care and resilience. Through the works of Ileana Arnaoutou, Eleni Bagaki, Panos Charalambous, Despina Charitonidi, Sarah Ettlinger, Martha Panagiotopoulou, Marios Stamatis, and Elektra Stampoulou, sweat is transformed into an artistic language. Niovi Zarampouka-Chatzimanou is Hordaland Kunstsenter’s curator in residence in April 2025. On Wednesday 23rd of April at 18:00 she invites you to a talk about her work! @niovi_zc will be discussing her latest research, that lead into “The Pavilion of Imagination” - a project that will be unfolding over the next few years, and that is one of the main pillars of the organization Counterpoints Greece. The Pavilion of Imagination is a tangible and intangible space for collective social and artistic growth, inviting citizens, artists, curators, cultural actors and collectivities to reclaim their/our right to Imagination, reclaiming it as an urgency for contemporary inclusive democracy, putting in action a framework for an inclusive institutional format for the arts and communities. The performative gathering Sound of Imagination, newly commissioned to @latentcommunity and curated by @niovi_zc , took over the spaces of the Athens Municipality Cultural Center, currently hosting office spaces. This "imageless film — sonic installation" became a gathering in resonance. "By dismantling the image, we make space for what is felt but unseen, for listening as a way of assembling." LC The sound installation was an immersive experience turning the corridors and the amphitheatre of the building into a call for participation and reflection.

Το Pavilion of Imagination συν διαμορφώθηκε από τα μέλη μιας φαινομενικά ετερόκλητης ομάδας πολιτών, που για αρκετό καιρό και γύρω από διάφορα τραπέζια φαγητού συζητούσαμε την ανάγκη να δράσουμε συλλογικά, προτάσσοντας το δικαίωμά μας στη φαντασία απέναντι στην επισφάλεια, την έλλειψη εμπιστοσύνης στους θεσμούς και το φόβο του έχει ποτίσει το συλλογικό ασυνείδητο της κοινωνίας μας. H πρώτη μας αυτή συνάντηση θέλαμε να είναι ένα τέτοιο μεγάλο τραπέζι σκέψης, συζήτησης, ανησυχιών, γέλιων, προβληματισμών, αγωνιών και συντροφικότητας. Ένα τραπέζι όμως δεν μπορεί να υπάρξει χωρίς φαγητό.
