Medicare scammers are using Oprah’s image to target your grandparents — and Meta is letting it happen. Our research found that 30 Medicare scam operators on Facebook and Instagram generated more than 215 million views on their ads in just one year. Some of these ads promise “free” groceries, rent, and gas through Medicare — but many are false or misleading, exploiting older Americans and pressuring them to hand over sensitive personal information or switch into worse healthcare plans. Meta has the tools to stop these scams. Instead, the company appears to be profiting from them — making an estimated $14.3 million from scam ads alone. Tell Meta to act against Medicare scammers. After two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green, Jewish figures across Britain posted messages of grief and solidarity. Sadly, this made them a target. On X, those posts were met with celebrations of violence, antisemitic tropes, and calls for further attacks. Our research found 130 hateful replies targeting just ten prominent Jewish accounts. We also identified 100 "false flag" conspiracy posts blaming Jewish people for the attack, which together amassed nearly 250,000 views. Not one carried a Community Note. Every post violated X's own policies and raised concerns under the UK's Online Safety Act. Ofcom has now announced that X entered into a compliance program to tackle illegal hate and terror content. It cannot come soon enough. Learn more at the link in our bio.

14.3 MILLION dollars. That’s how much Meta made from ads posted by Medicare scammers. CCDH researchers identified the 30 most prolific scammers running Medicare scam ads on Facebook. Using overstated benefits, government impersonation, and celebrity deepfakes, these ads take advantage of senior citizens while violating Meta’s own policies. In the past year alone, the ads generated 215 million impressions — nearly 6 times more than in previous years combined. Meta has the tools to stop this. Instead, the company continues to profit while vulnerable seniors are put at risk. Read the full findings at the link in our bio. #Scams #Meta #Medicare

In 2026 alone, AI has already been linked to real deaths and real violence. Platforms left to police themselves put people at risk. We've seen it with social media. We're seeing it again. Legislators need to act – and put safety before profit. Hear more from our CEO, @imranahmedccdh , and tap the link bio. #AI #SocialMedia #Cambridge

According to a study from Pew Research Center, parents and teens believe social media is the biggest threat to mental health today. We need to do anything we can to fix this. There are some practical steps we can take to improve our mental health while using social media, but true positive change requires real accountability from Big Tech companies — who push harmful and divisive content to our feeds to keep us addicted to their platforms. This #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth join CCDH in the fight for a safer internet. Link in bio.

Meta was found guilty in a landmark trial of designing addictive platforms that made a child experience serious mental health issues. By the age of 9, KGM was addicted to Instagram. A year later, she developed depression and attempted self-harm. Now the company is appealing the decision to avoid responsibility by hiding behind Section 230’s protective shield. Section 230 was created in the 90s, when the internet looked entirely different — no algorithms, no endless scrolling, and no amplification of harmful content. Times changed. Congress must reform Section 230 and ensure Big Tech is held accountable for harming children. Go to link in bio and join us in the fight for kids’ online safety. #Meta #OnlineHarms #SocialMediaTrial

The horrific attack in Golders Green is a stark reminder that antisemitic violence is rising, and online hate is helping fuel it. Social media platforms continue to allow antisemitic rhetoric, conspiracy theories, and disinformation to spread unchecked, normalizing hatred against Jewish communities. If this continues, more people will be put at risk. Ofcom and the UK government must hold social media companies accountable before it’s too late. Big Tech executives like Mark Zuckerberg will go to great lengths to dodge scrutiny — even slipping in the back door at events like the Met Gala. It says a lot: they’re not focused on users, they’re focused on proximity to power and profit. That’s exactly why regulation matters. Without it, there are no real consequences: just more influence, more wealth, and the same unsafe platforms. #MetGala #MarkZuckerberg #Meta

These conversations between ChatGPT and a violent attacker are striking because they show just how far chatbots will go in real-life scenarios. This reporting comes on the heels of our “Killer Apps” report, which found that 8 in 10 chatbots will assist users planning attacks. Every single one did so in at least some instances. Now, ChatGPT has reportedly been used in the planning of mass violence attacks, including at Tumbler Ridge High School and Florida State University. AI is telling ‘teens’ things like “Happy (and safe) shooting!” These companies won’t change unless they’re forced to. Join our demands at the link in bio and call on lawmakers to push for comprehensive regulation. #OpenAI #ChatGPT #AISafety

UN Women has found that women in public life are facing more sophisticated online abuse—now increasingly amplified by AI tools. But this harm isn’t limited to public figures. Our research shows that Grok generated an estimated 3 million sexualized images of women and girls over just 11 days, after the launch of a one-click editing feature. AI companies built these features. They can build the safeguards too. Lawmakers need to make them. Head to the link in our bio to join the fight. #UNWomen #Grok #Musk

OpenAI’s Sam Altman apologized for not reporting a ChatGPT flagged user who allegedly used the platform to plan the Tumbler Ridge school shooting – killing 8 people. This isn’t an isolated failure. The alleged Florida State University shooter also used ChatGPT to plan the attack. CCDH’s Killer Apps research found that 8 in 10 AI chatbots were regularly willing to help teenagers plan violent attacks, including school shootings. Apologies don’t make AI safe. Regulation does. Read our findings and demand better. Link in bio. #ChatGPT #OpenAI #TumblerRidge
