Inclusion is a journey not a destination: we’re always learning 🌸
Here are five things we do to attempt to enable everyone to feel safe and welcome in our studio.
1. Physical access
We’ve modified our spaces and bathrooms to be accessible with ramps and wide entry points that accommodate larger motorised wheelchairs.
2. Little Signals
Things like pamphlets on pronoun usage, stickers from
@minus18youth , acknowledgments of stolen land and a bouquet of plastic sunflowers all help to signal that this is a studio where people will be respected.
3. A quiet space
A calm, dedicated area to step away, regulate, or take a break when needed.
4. Access-led production
We share access guides ahead of every shoot and ask people what they need, so access is considered from the start.
5. Designed with care
Spaces only go so far. We use participatory, strength-based and trauma-informed approaches to ensure people feel safe, heard, and in control of how their stories are told.
