Sunday was a full circle moment. π
William Siu @st_james_creation set up in our little backyard at CoSpace and spent the afternoon teaching β fish-shaped ceramic chopstick rests, hand-pinched and glazed, each one its own little character.
Watching the artist himself demo and teach, right here in our space β quietly, patiently, with so much joy β I honestly couldnβt have asked for more. π₯³ dream came true
Thank you William and the team for making this happen. And thank you to every single one of our joiners for being such fun, patient, and talented ππ
One more session left β 12 April (Sunday), 1β3pm. Make up to 2 fish-shaped chopstick rests + receive a ceramic soy sauce dish. William will also personally walk you through the exhibition.
HK$520 with up to 2 fish!

We are brining this back for the second year with @hsumade
This round of the Architecture Form Workshop with Simon Hsu focuses exactly on that β training the eyes.
Working through handbuilding, Simon will guide participants to observe proportion, balance, and structure in ceramic forms. Drawing from architectural thinking, the focus is less about producing perfect objects and more about understanding how a form stands, how weight is distributed, and how subtle adjustments can transform the presence of a piece.
Less about making.
More about learning to see.
π Workshop Dates
β’ April 5 (Sun) β Public Holiday
β’ April 6 (Mon) β Public Holiday (may open depending on sign-ups)

Iβm honestly so excited about this βworkshopβ β and low-key hoping that if this goes well, we can make it happen more often π
Extending the 100 Bowls show from two years ago, this is secretly one of my personal milestones for the studio :D DM me for more details!!!
Hong Kong actually has a lot of advanced ceramic throwing weekend / weeknight warriors. And locally, weβre lucky to have some incredible masters β real gems to watch, learn from, and work alongside. Queenie has been on the wheel for over 40 years.
This clinic-style session is for those of you who are already pushing yourselves and want to become better potters β not just make more, but really make better work.
Yes, practice makes you better β
but having someone who has done this for decades, who truly understands form, movement, and decision-making at the wheel, can shortcut years of trial and error.
For this round, Queenie will be joining us to host a 2-day throwing clinic, held once per week on Friday afternoons.
The spacing gives you time to go back to your own studio β or stay with us β to practice and digest what was discussed between sessions.
Because this is a clinic, not a regular class:
Firing is not included.
Youβre expected to come with experience.
And yes β you will not be pampered.
Weβre here to talk business, observe closely, and fix your ζε’. π€£π€£
Come ready to be challenged.πͺπ»

Feeling a bit of feely feely today under this rainy weather ~
Over the past few months, Vernette has been such a comforting and steady presence. For me and for the studio π She teaches with real generosity and care, always giving fully to her students.
You can feel it in how they show up β and how they keep coming back. And keep learning with new ideas.
Itβs also been lovely to see the studio slowly shift with the season: little corners filling with Christmas gifts, new home additions, and that final push of learning before some students head overseas.
Vernette has spent over 13 years learning and practising ceramics, shaped deeply by her time studying under Queenie. That kind of training doesnβt just build skill β it builds a certain openness and groundedness. Those of you who have tried it yourself, it humbles you.
She also made the brave choice earlier to leave her full-time corporate life behind and fully dive into this βnewβ world. Watching her commit so wholeheartedly to what she loves gives me, as a younger person, an extra sense of courage and fuel β a reminder that itβs never too late to choose passion.
Weβre probably a little different from many studios. Weβre less focused on strict outcomes or end goals. And yet, with Vernette, the basics are always done properly β patiently, thoughtfully β while still creating space for different forms and ideas to grow together.
Ceramics has a way of humbling you. It reminds you to slow down, to listen, to stay open. And I think that sense of openness β that ιι β really shows in how she teaches and creates.
Itβs not a one-off hobby class, and itβs not an intense short course either.
Itβs a place you can return to weekly β to unwind, reset, and make.
Iβve always believed actions speak louder than words. Vernette pours in her heart and time β travelling one to two hours just to come to the studio β sometimes even when students donβt show up last minute ( Please could you guys at least tell her a day earlier π₯Ί) And yet, she keeps creating, keeps teaching, and keeps inspiring.
That kind of generosity stays with people.
Always happy to run into her on Thursdays β vodka on ice or a beer in hand. π€
It was a simple, quite breezy weekend, but the vibe was definitely cozy. We got to know more friends through this gathering, and also met a few new weekend warriors through an artist who had a show with us earlier this year. Always great fun having Queenie just around the corner. When asking Vernette sensei to do throwing,
I tried really hard not to include too many baby shots β but it was honestly interesting to experience bringing her to the market for two full days. The market felt very different from regular shop days.
Feeling thankful for my life partner for being himself during those days β holding the back and accompanying our baby girl β so that I could engage a little with other local makers who are mothers, and with customers who purposely swung by to support everyone. It was also really, really nice seeing everyone so professional out there in this breezy weather.
Itβs been a hard time for Hong Kong, but we were able to come together and share some heartwarming moments while supporting one another. There have been many big and small markets around local Hong Kong communities lately β do head out, explore, and support local makers when you can. π€
