⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 신작 과정샷. ⠀ 저에게 화장품은 단순한 미용 도구가 아니라 또 하나의 정체성을 만들어내는 재료입니다. 피부 위에서 또 다른 얼굴을 만들어내는 화장처럼 100% 화장품을 사용해 사회적 가면, ‘페르소나’를 이야기하고 있습니다. 일상의 가장 익숙한 물질로 보이지 않는 또 다른 자아를 탐구합니다. ⠀ ⠀ Work in progress. ⠀ For me, cosmetics are not simply beauty tools, but materials that create another identity. Bora Lee works with an exceptionally distinctive medium: 100% cosmetic products, including foundation, lipstick, and eyeshadow. Materials traditionally used to conceal, beautify, and perform identity are transformed into painterly surfaces that examine how emotion and persona are constructed under the social gaze. Her choice of medium is not symbolic alone—it is integral to the meaning of the work. Her layered surfaces resemble skin, veils, and packaging, bearing traces of pressure, repetition, and restraint. In Bora’s practice, makeup is no longer decoration, but an ambivalent device—at once protective and suffocating—revealing the quiet tension between vulnerability and control.
