Not much longer to wait (24th January) until we welcome drummer and composer Corrie Dick to celebrate 10 years since the release of “Impossible Things”, reuniting the ensemble who brought to life the cult album that inspired a new wave of folk-influenced jazz and championed numerous rising jazz superstars. Featuring Alice Zawadzki, Laura Jurd, Felix Higginbottom, Matt Robinson & Calum Gourlay - this will be a very special gig. Tickets are available on our website / link in bio.

ANNOUNCEMENT: 10yr Anniversary “Impossible Things” Vinyl Release Link in bio 10 years ago I release my first album - ‘Impossible Things’. The whole experience of putting my heart into music and having these amazing musicians realise it was totally overwhelming. We prepared loads then had a luxurious 5 days in Giant Wafer, a residential studio in Wales. I remember the outpouring of emotion listening back in the control room on the final night and everyone piling on me, late night jams, a feeling of real musical trust and lots of hilarity. After the release, we toured across 23 mostly consecutive dates supported by Arts Council of England - another intense, wonderful stretch with some incredible guests like Tom Dennis, Jessica Radcliffe, Calum Gourlay, Joe Downard and Rob Luft joining the team. I’m astonished at the reach of that album. I’ve heard it’s a metal band’s mutual favourite album, that someone walked down the aisle to one of the pieces, that it inspired the sound of other musicians I admire, pieces being played in students’ jazz recitals in America, Canada and Australia. I remember a rowdy audience singing along to the pieces in Cardiff (great pipes all round). 1000 copies of the CD vanished in just over a year but I never pressed the vinyl, despite being asked “will you ever put this on vinyl?” More times than I can count. So here it is. A limited edition of 100 copies is on sale now. I won’t make any money from it. It’s just a response to the love that the album has received and a sort of “thank you” to everyone who made this album so fulfilling for me as an artist. I’m onto new things now, but taking this moment to reflect on the impact everyone involved has had on my growth. Thank you.

The Listen! Autumn Festival gets underway tomorrow, and so each day this week we've been bringing you news of one of the exciting concerts making up our stylistically varied programme. The final concert in the series, on 1st November, features one of the most distinctive voices in jazz and improvised music today. Laura Jurd 's unique approach to the trumpet is celebrated in the work that she creates. Her love of folk traditions can often be heard in her music, alongside her background in classical composition. The result is a melodic world, full of compelling twists and turns, whilst retaining a grounded sense of familiarity. This autumn sees Laura returning to the stage, presenting her astonishing new album Rites and Revelations, due for release in October. The music takes listeners on a journey of ritual and catharsis, propelled the world-class rhythm section of Ruth Goller (bass) and Corrie Dick (drums), alongside the strikingly-brilliant folk violist Cori Smith. @laurajurd @cori_rose_smith @ruthgoller @corriedick For more information, and tickets, head over to our website: /laura-jurd/ ...or follow the links in our bio.
