Kristián Cuervo ‘Porten i orten’ opens this Friday 17th October at Corridor, 5-9pm. In the backroom we will also have Alejandro Villa Durans work on paper for those who missed that. Cuervo started photographing doors in the neighbourhood he grew up in when returning between his bachelor in Aerospace Emgineering and current master in Mathematical Computation. Naturally drawn to patterns, systems & structures Cuervos work is largely looking at Scandinavian suburban architecture and in this show specifically Swedish suburbs, which in recent years are struggling with highly organised crime and violence. These neighbourhoods have roots in working class and immigrant families, and have in the recent years been increasingly stigmatised. Coming from a Colombian and Swedish background, Cuervo started documenting these buildings in the process of examining what home was to him, having lived in 4 different countries, and moving to Stockholm from Bogotá as a child. Looking at his own sense of community and neighbourhood this show also communicates directly with Corridor, and the history of its neighbourhood in Oslo. All welcome to the Corridor for drinks, soup and conversation. @kristian.cuervo curated by @kimjakobsento is also open Saturday 18th, 12-3pm

Opening Friday 12th at 5pm: Alejandro Villa Duran, “Phantom pulse”. The Mexican artist is showing works on paper exploring the oscillation between the abstract and the figure. Looking at themes of loneliness and separation, Villa Duran is questioning the condition of living in a society where, despite being surrounded by others, we often feel profoundly isolated. This sense of disconnection is not accidental but deeply tied to the structures of capitalism, which erode community and blur our sense of belonging. The exhibition reflects on this emptiness, how collective life has been hollowed out, leaving behind echoes of connection - and looking at what remains in the distance between us. The show is open by appointment 13th September. Grenseveien 9E, Carl Berners plass, Oslo.

‘High Friends in Places’ Corridor is exited to kick off the summer season with a show by Sean Burns. The show presents a selection of photographs, printed material and objects that Burns have produced, gathered or received in recent years. Responding to the opportunity to create something in a corridor – a transitional space – the work offer a moment for reflection on ideas of becoming and self-construction. In a domestic interior, Burns offers something unabashedly personal and intimate. There will also be a screening of his film ‘Dorothy Towers’ and and artist talk with Corridor curator Kim Jakobsen Tô at the opening. We hope that, collectively, these things express a longing for connection and love. Sean Burns is an artist, editor and writer based in London. Opening Thur 10th: 5-10pm Screening 6pm (followed by artist talk) Fri 11th 4-7pm with screening 5pm Sat 12th: 1-4pm with screening 2pm Grenseveien 9e, Carl Berners Plass, Oslo @sf_burns @kimjakobsento

London based French artist Romane Courdacher is looking at liminal spaces, time and romance in the dark in their show at Corridor. The show is a site specific installation using sculpture, painting & scent - with certain work only viewable in darkness... Their practice, born out of a fascination for the uncanny and the spectral, focuses on ruins, abandoned artefacts and the lingering echoes of lives they once witnessed. Working across sculpture, video, performance and poetry, they investigate concepts of world-building, theatricality and hauntology in relation to the construction of queer identities. With the attitude of a gleaner, they gather images, discarded items, fragments of texts and materials, constituting an ever-growing visual and conceptual collection that feeds into their research and making process. They combine found objects with 3D printed and concrete ornamental elements to build installations and sculptures in which architectural elements such as passages, kiosks and sepulchres are used as metaphors for transitional states. Their works act as “in-betweens”, liminal spaces where timelessness, nostalgia, transience and ubiquity flirt with notions of gender fluidity and non-binarity. Inspired by David Lynch’s dreamscapes and Sci-Fi writers, such as J.G. Ballard and Ursula K. LeGuin, their works unfold a series of ethereal and eerie narratives which blur the line between feelings of ease and discomfort in their audience. Come join us in a transition of space and time through your favourite Corridor in Oslo. All welcome! Curated by Kim Jakobsen Tô Vernissage Thursday 12th of September 18-22h \ Friday 13th 16-19h \ Saturday 14th 12-16h \ Sunday 15th: 12-15h

This is Liv’s first public performance, and it feels very special to present her as part of Corridor’s summer program. “Performance for the past” is a tender & intimate piece - a woman finding her voice and artistic tools at the later stage in life sharing truth and vulnerability. There will be a social gathering after the performance and Pe Ferreira’s show is on view at the gallery space from 16-19. The photos are taking by Kim Jakobsen Tô collaborating with Jenni Friis & Øyvind Ruud.

Opening this week in the Corridor is Brazilian artist Pe Ferreira; “Like My Mother.” Working with photography & diary entries, This exhibition is a proposition for a shift within the maternal, a reversal of the roles of mother and daughter: what if the daughter becomes the mother, what mimicry or wisdom or deviance does this shift afford the daughter-turned-mother? “At a very young age I was introduced to my mother’s sexuality by countless boyfriends and friends she had over for a night, a season or until violence shed her and her personhood apart. What sort of inadmissible power does the maternal have in exposing us willingly or unwillingly to a system, an image or an idea? In this exhibition, I work through and within the autobiographical to circumvent and thread together themes of trust, adolescence, bonds, ambivalence, guilt, and sex—through photographs of Azize, Sem, Bennet, myself, and finally my own mother, as well as pages of diary entries outlining those themes.” Supplementary to the main exhibition space is a make shift gambling room in which spectators are invited to turn into gamblers - documenting any of the art works in this section of the exhibition is forbidden and is only for the participants, and ultimately the winners. Gamblers are invited to bid any amount of money to obtain one of the three artworks at the end of the three day show. All three artworks are of one unique edition that won’t be replicated. Opening Thursday 1st of August 18-20, Friday 11-15, Saturday 16-20. There will be a separate performance by Liv Ohnstad Saturday 3rd of August at 19.00 as part of the summer program. Curated by Kim Jakobsen Tô Pe Ferreira is guest at Abstinens, RadiOrakel, Friday 2nd Aug. at 6PM european time. Tune in here: https://radiorakel.no or FM 99.6 in Oslo
