Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community. In Cornwall, the suicide rate stands at 15.6 deaths per 100,000 people, compared with 10.7 across England and Wales - nearly 46% higher than the national average. This is more than a statistic; it reflects the urgent need for greater mental health support, connection, and early intervention across our communities. That’s why we are incredibly proud to support so many amazing charities and organisations across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly that work tirelessly to reduce suicide, provide crisis support, tackle isolation, and ensure people know they are not alone. Their work saves lives every single day. Mental health matters to all of us. By raising awareness, supporting your local communities, and encouraging open conversations, we can help create a Cornwall where everyone feels seen, supported, and able to reach out for help when they need it. We are expanding our team! ✨ When people think of Cornwall, they often picture beaches, holidays, and beautiful coastlines. But behind that image are communities facing real challenges - child poverty, isolation, unemployment, and mental health struggles. Cornwall Community Foundation exists to help change that. By connecting donors with grassroots organisations, we’ve helped fund thousands of local projects making a genuine difference across Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. Now, we're expanding our team and have an exciting opening to join us as Fundraising Officer. A role for someone who cares deeply about community, thrives in a varied environment, and wants their work to have meaningful impact every single day. Applications close 19 May. What does Cornwall Community Foundation actually do? 🤔 It’s a question we’re often asked, and it’s a fair one. Because we’re not a single-cause charity, so it can take a little explaining. Our mission is to make Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly a better place for all. So, how do we do it? We connect philanthropic individuals and businesses with grassroots organisations changing people’s lives across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Let's break it down further: • We provide grants to small, grassroots charities and community groups that often sit below the radar of larger funders. • We connect donors with local causes that matter to them - whether that’s homelessness, education, child poverty, or anything in between - ensuring their donations support the projects they care about most. • We manage over 70 dedicated funds, each tailored to specific needs, demographics, or areas across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. • We support initiatives that strengthen communities, from village hall coffee mornings to eradicate loneliness in rural locations, through to larger projects aiming to tackle Cornwall's biggest issues such as housing and mental health. • Our funding is targeted to where the need is most urgent. • Through our Emergency Fund, we can respond quickly to crises affecting the county, such as COVID-19, flooding, and severe storms. • We’re not a single-cause charity - we support communities in all their diversity. We are proud to say that since 2003 we have awarded more than £23 million into Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Thank you for joining us on our mission.

We’re incredibly proud to support the next generation through our Young & Talented Cornwall Fund 🌟 Across Cornwall, we’re seeing inspiring young people step forward with creativity, determination, and passion. Whether in the arts, sport, dance, photgraphy, and so much more, their talent and drive are shaping a bright future for Cornwall, and it’s a privilege to play a small part in their journey. From coastal towns to rural communities, this young talent is proving that opportunity, when supported, can go a long way. Thank you to everyone who continues to champion and invest in our young people, we can’t wait to see what they achieve next. Photography by @tobytogpix

Thank you to everyone who joined us at @pentilliecastle ’s Charity Open Day earlier this month – together you helped raise a fantastic £1,506 for Cornwall Community Foundation. ☀️🌺👏 Sammie Coryton, Owner of Pentillie Castle & Estate, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to open our Spring gardens in aid of the Cornwall Community Foundation — and what a wonderful afternoon it turned out to be! The CCF does such incredible work supporting the lives of so many people across Cornwall, yet it’s surprisingly little-known here in SE Cornwall, so hosting our April Garden Open Day for the CCF felt like the perfect opportunity to change that — whether you’re someone who might benefit from their support, or someone looking for a meaningful cause to get behind. The highlight for us was definitely the live music from Livewire — a youth music project that the CCF has previously funded. Their young performers were brilliant, filling the terraces with music all afternoon and reminding everyone exactly why this kind of funding matters. Here’s to many more sunny afternoons, and causes worth celebrating!” Thank you to everyone who joined us, to Livewire Youth Music Project for performing, and of course to Pentillie Estate for their generosity in choosing us as their worthy charity. 💛 #cornwall #charity #pentillie

“I think I can speak for the whole voluntary sector, having a supporter that truly listens to what communities need is everything.” Our work is about more than funding. We listen to the needs of our communities, so we can support people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to live happier, fairer, and more hopeful lives. In this short film, three of our grant recipients share how support from Cornwall Community Foundation is helping them make a real difference in their communities. A huge thank you to @kbsk_cic . Lanivet Parish Community Centre (@lanivethub ), and @newquay_orchard for sharing their stories. And to our incredible supporters and donors, this impact simply wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you. 💛
