☁️MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH🧠
🧠The Corner supports young people with their mental health all year round. This year for Mental Health Awareness month, STRIVE are promoting positive coping strategies with their ‘Healthy High’ Campaign! 💚
STRIVE supports young people aged 12-21 and their families who are affected by substance use. Some young people use substances as a way to cope with how they’re feeling.
‼️The campaign aims to explore why young people may use substances to cope and how they can find healthier ways to feel better!
✨If you’re aged 12-21 you can complete the survey (HERE), check out our stories for the link or pop into Drop in!
The Corner offers a range of health and wellbeing services!
🔸 For young people aged 11-19
🔸No appointment needed
🔸Live Chat on our Website
🔸Drop in Mon-Fri 1-6pm 😊

Can you count on your period tracking app to prevent pregnancy?
Using no contraception, typically 85 in 100 people will get pregnant in one year.
You may think your period tracking app is accurately telling you when you’re fertile, but they are only 76% effective when used (accurately) as contraception alone.
That means that 24 in 100 people will get pregnant in a year.
There are more effective options when choosing contraception.

Can you count on your period tracking app to prevent pregnancy?
Period tracking apps can be a great way to get an insight into your cycle and empower you to know your body. However, they are not a reliable form of contraception.
They are only 76% effective when used as contraception alone. That means that 24 in 100 people will get pregnant in a year when using their app as their only method of contraception.
Using your app accurately includes things like inputting your basal body temperature daily. However, accuracy can also vary due to stress, illness and alcohol intake.
There are more effective options when choosing contraception.

Young Carers Action Day 2026 💛💚💜
A big thank you to Dundee Carers Centre for inviting our team along to deliver a workshop as part of last week’s Young Carers Action Day events
We always value the opportunity to meet young carers from across the city and to be part of such a positive and uplifting day filled with fun and celebration.
This year, our workshop focused on self-care—something that’s so important for maintaining health and wellbeing, especially for young people balancing education, friendships, and their caring responsibilities.
Self-care can often be overlooked, but it matters. Taking time to rest, recharge, and look after yourself is not a luxury—it’s essential.
A special shout out to LUSH Dundee for their generous donation of products—thanks to them, every young person who took part in the workshop was able to take home a lovely self-care gift to enjoy.🛁🧘♀️☺️
Thank you again to everyone who took part🤩

Last week marked Young Carers Action Day 2026 💛💚💜
This year’s theme, Fair Futures for Young Carers, shines a light on something that truly matters—every young carer deserves equal access to opportunities, support, and the chance to reach their full potential.
Being a young carer shouldn’t mean missing out. It’s about making sure young people are supported to grow, thrive, and move forward into a bright future⭐
Our Corner window this month is dedicated to Young Carers Action Day and this year’s theme, Fair Futures for Young Carers
A huge thank you to the young carers who helped bring our display to life by designing and colouring their own butterflies. Each one has been added to our collage, creating something truly special. 🦋
The butterfly is a powerful symbol for young carers—representing the diversity of their experiences and the many different caring roles they take on every day.
If you are a young carer, we would love to hear from you. How does your caring role shape the way you think about your future?
Scan the QR code to take part in our short questionnaire—your voice will help us better understand your experiences and shape the support we provide. Your feedback will also be shared with the city’s Young Carers subgroup to help make a difference.
For more information around our Young Carers Service and the different forms of support we provide for Young Carers. Please get in touch with us here at The Corner.
