The 2025 Invitations to Better Worlds Artists Residency was unforgettable! Through their residencies, the artists have created art installations that bring to life their interpretations of a collective vision for better worlds for Jane and Finch. This project is an emergence of community engagement, storytelling, collective liberation, foresight and art. It is a practice in believing better worlds are possible. Here’s an interview with artist-in-residence, Vanna Nguyen, sharing more about her work and what invitations to better worlds means to her. This Artist-in-Residence was held within the Invitations the Better Worlds project in collaboration with @deptofimaginaryaffairs and @jfcf.centre . This is a City of Toronto Cultural Hotspot Signature Project.

For the 2025 Invitations to Better Worlds Artist Residency Program, we’ve been working with three amazing artists from Jane and Finch: Taejah Daniel, Vanna Nguyen and Rod Osei-Nuako. Through their residencies, the artists have created art installations that bring to life their interpretations of a collective vision for better worlds for Jane and Finch. This project is an emergency of community engagement, storytelling, collective liberation, foresight and art. It is a practice in believing better worlds are possible. Their installations will be on exhibit at Corner Commons in the @janefinchmall parking lot from October 4th to October 13th. Join us for the Artist Showcase and Meet + Greet on October 4th from 3:30PM-4:30PM, to view their artwork and learn more about the talented artists.
