Hello, inbox, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a pheasant softly creeping
Made people email while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in your brain
Still remains
That's not the sound of corncrakes
Well...it's time time of year again folks!
Our first corncrake has shown up in Co. Mayo but our inbox is already full of phantom corncrakes.
If you have seen a corncrake I will give you a clue.....ya, that's right, it wasn't' a corncrake.
Anyhow. What would we know.
If you believe it was a corncrake, then good for you. We love you lots and so does your Mum.
‘Answering the call’ is a powerful film about the hopes and effort to save one of Irelands most endangered species: the Corncrake.
It premieres at the @TriskelCork this Saturday as part of the @CorkFilmFest and features @NPWSIreland and the Corncrake LIFE team.
As our 5-year journey comes to a close, we are finishing on a high.
A 50% increase in corncrakes in our project 'LIFEtime'.
There are too many people to thank for this.
It shows what can be done- when we care enough,
@NPWSIreland@DeptHousingIRL

A huge day for us yesterday as we worked with the islanders of Inis Bó finne in Co. Donegal to bring cattle back to the island after 40 years.
Conservation grazing of abandoned grasslands is such an important tool for helping our ground-nesting birds.
It honours traditions and rejuvenates landscapes for both people ad wildlife.
Gan eallach
Gan traonach
This is such an amazing event.
Learn how to use a scythe from some really great people and just have a wonderful day celebrating grasslands and traditional management of them.
Great to see a young corncrake like this!
Still some growing to do.
This bird will be fully feathered in about 2 weeks and will then head off to West Africa (5000km).
Let's hope it makes the journey and gets home to Ireland next April

All indications are that 2025 will be a massive year for corncrakes in Ireland.
We're bringing Crexy back baby!
