Say hello to the brilliant, the incredible, the astonishing 2026 Moxie Incubator Cohort! We are beyond thrilled to welcome these nine artists into our community and champion their work throughout the year.
The Moxie Incubator is our flagship development program - each year, 3 playwrights, 3 directors, and 3 line producers are selected from an open submission process. The nine selected artists then form a rotating cohort to at develops three world-premiere plays over three rounds: a virtual reading, a staged workshop, and finally, a workshop presentation production.
The 2026 Moxie Incubator cohort includes playwrights Cori Diaz, Gina Femia, Amy Greenspan; directors Zagreb Budhwani, Molly Shayna Cohen, Liza Couser; and line producers Katie Brown, Andie Lerner, and Monika Orzeloweki. Managing Producer Madelyn Paquette and Artistic Director Margaret Lee lead Moxie Arts NY in their mission to produce new works centering stories of women, created by artists of historically excluded genders.
Meet our first Liminal Salon artist, Cori Diaz, whose new play Carpal Tunnel turns a writer’s retreat inside out. ✍🏽
ABOUT THE PLAY
Carpal Tunnel is a meta absurdist, semi-experimental dramedy about a group of writers who retreat to a kitschy motel in the Catskills to start a new literary movement. Their quest for authenticity and artistic greatness quickly spirals into chaos, truth-telling, and hallucinatory absurdity. The play asks whether suffering is truly necessary for great art, and what it means to be "interesting" in a world obsessed with artistic trauma.
Cori brings humor, heart, and a sharp lens to the world of artists chasing meaning, chaos, and truth as reality bites back.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Cori Diaz (she/her) is a queer Latina playwright based in New York City. Her work has been developed with SheNYC Arts, LaGuardia Performing Arts Center's Rough Draft Festival, The Tank's LimeFest and Darkfest, RE/VENUE, The Workshop Theater, Ensemble Studio Theatre LA, Abingdon Theatre Company's Uplift the Page Festival, The Bechdel Group, and Playwrights on Park.
