📍 Newark, Two Years Ago Before Coreset had a name, we were here — listening, learning, and laying the groundwork with the people who matter most - you. These photos are from some of our very first consultations in Newark, where local voices helped shape the vision that would become Coreset. From the kitchen-table conversations to walk abouts and forums, every step was rooted in collaboration. We’re proud of how far we’ve come — and even more grateful for where we started. 💬 Thank you to the Newark residents who welcomed us, shared their stories, and trusted us with their hopes. This is your place. 🧡 #Coreset #CommunityDriven #newarkuk #FromTheGroundUp #ListeningFirst #ThenAndNow #EquityInAction #newarkontrent

🎨 Creativity is vital — it’s about expression, connection, and shaping the world around us. Over the last 5 months at Coreset, we’ve had the joy of sharing creative opportunities with people in Newark — experimenting with photography, collage, manifesto and book making, sewing, and natural dyeing. We’ve even sculpted our ideas of what makes a great town! 🧵📸✂️🌿🏙️ Together, we’ve explored, played, and taken time to be creatively healthy. 💫 Here are just a few glimpses of what’s been happening — thank you to everyone who’s taken part so far! 👀 Watch this space — exciting things are being planned for the autumn! #CoresetNewark #CreativeHealth #ArtInCommunity #Collage #Photography #BookMaking #Manifesto #NaturalDyeing #Sewing #TownSculpting #CreativityMatters #creativenewark

🌍✨ From Newark to China — building global partnerships for local change! At the heart of our ‘Forming Threads’ project lies a powerful vision: to reimagine how we live, make, and consume — together. Rooted in the lives of working people, we’re cultivating creativity, fair labour, and eco-innovation across borders. This East Midlands–China collaboration is exploring sustainable materials, ethical supply chains, and low-impact production — all while sharing skills that empower communities on both sides of the globe. 💬 Our seasonal gatherings are socially just, leaderless spaces where Newark-based artists, makers, and activists come together to think, create, and care deeply about each other and our planet. 🌱 In our BACK TO EARTH symposium, we felt climate change through art, dialogue, and food. We heard from Coreset’s resident artists, screened the powerful documentary Six Inches of Soil, and imagined a future where farming heals the land and sustains our communities. 🔗 Newark is not on the sidelines — we’re at the centre of change. Let’s grow fairer, greener futures together. #BackToEarth #EcoInnovation #NewarkUK #SustainableFutures #ClimateJustice #CommunityPower #SixInchesOfSoil #EthicalProduction #LocalGlobal #ArtAndActivism #SoilToSoul #LibraryofThingsNewark #ActionfortheEnvironment

We’re proud to spotlight Muslihah Mujtaba (‘Lili’), a resident artist at Coreset, whose work sits at the intersection of cultural heritage, community, and innovation. Lili is currently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Heritage at the University of Birmingham, exploring how intangible cultural heritage can evolve while remaining rooted in authenticity and community values. In 2025, her research was recognised internationally through the LBKM Prestigious Postgraduate Scholarship and the MTFA Founders’ Scholarship in Singapore. However, despite this achievement, she is still at risk of losing her place without further financial support. Lili’s work is deeply personal and culturally significant. Through technology, she is reimagining how Malay heritage can be made accessible and meaningful for younger generations—preserving not just form, but the values, emotions, and histories embedded within it. As she reflects: “In dance, we often see only the outer layer. Beneath it lies cultural values, emotions, oral histories, and traditions woven into every gesture.” Her journey began at age eight with Sri Warisan, founded by Som Said. Since then, she has grown from performer to mentor, now supporting the next generation of artists and cultural practitioners. This is more than academic research—it’s work that communities depend on. If this resonates with you, please consider supporting, sharing, or connecting Lili with individuals or organisations who can help sustain this important work: 👉 Support Lili’s research fundraiser 🔗 gofundme.com/researchingMalayheritage #CulturalHeritage #ArtsResearch #Community #PhDResearch #supportthearts

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night to celebrate Unspoken: Memories of the Future and Roots of Renewal. It was a powerful evening, and we’re grateful to have shared it with such engaged and thoughtful people. @thomasthinks @generationrave_est1984 @_leahtextile_designs are asking us to consider profound questions — how we listen, how we remember, and how we take responsibility for the systems we are part of. Their work resists passive viewing, instead creating space for reflection, attention, and deeper awareness. ✨ We invite you to spend time with their incredible work and reflect. 📍 Open weekdays, 11am–3pm (excluding bank holidays) 📩 Weekend visits available by appointment — [email protected] #Unspoken #RootsOfRenewal #ContemporaryArt #exhibition Sustainabilit

What if your clothes could remember you? 🌱 Roots of Renewal by Coreset resident artist Leah Gasson invites us to see garments not as disposable, but as living systems—holding memory, evolving with us, and returning to the earth. From worn, repaired workwear that tells stories of labour and life… to biodegradable bridal garments designed to grow into new life after the wedding day 💐 This exhibition challenges everything we think we know about fashion, value, and permanence. ✨ Discover beauty in wear, repair, and renewal 🌿 Rethink the lifecycle of what we wear Opening 1 May #RootsOfRenewal #SustainableFashion #ArtExhibition #SlowFashion #TextileArt CircularDesign WearAndRepair FutureOfFashion EcoArt
