Contrary to popular belief, using your leash inside the house will actually help you solve your outside problems much faster. Here’s why! ā¬†ļø #dog #dogs #dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogtrainingtips

Here’s a PSA for dog owners- but also for those of us who are working towards a greater goal. Whether that be financial, business, fitness, mindset - even something like removing generational trauma. Reminder that people will always give you advice based on where they are mentally, and emotionally. Someone’s actions, experiences, and how they show up in the world will tell you right away if you should take in what they are saying and choose to apply it into your own lives. As we grow as dog trainers and dog owners, we get to share our experiences of growth with you all and in turn, we all get to grow together! šŸš€šŸ’ŖšŸ¾ #dogtraining #dogtrainersdog #obedience #manners #obediencetraining #mannerstraining #dogparenting #howtoparentyourdog #parentyourdog #dograising #trustthejourney #journey #process #dogtrainingtips #transparency #selfcontrol #patience #moldinghabits #habitformation #advice #growth #growthmindset #dogs #dogsofinstagram #highfrequency

This is the schedule we follow with our dogs in our board and train program. This one specifically is catered to puppies as we are trying to develop good potty, chewing, and separation habits at a young age. This schedule can also be used for dogs at any age. The point to focus on is using the crate as the pup’s home base, we want to prevent issues from arising by giving too much freedom. Starting this structure early with your pup or new dog will set everyone up for success while you are using your crate to control movement at the same time you are teaching the behaviors you are looking for when out of crate. Make sure to feed their meals in the crate so they take to it more naturally. #dogstagram #doglover #doggram #dogsofig #dogstagram #instadogbreeds #dogtrainingĀ  #dogtrainer #dogofthedayĀ  #dogstyle #dogsofinstagram #dog #puppy #puppiesofig #puppiesofinstagram #workingdogsofinstagram #workingdog #dogtrainingtips #losangelesdogtrainer #dogtips #dogbehavior #balanceddogtraining #balanceddogtrainer ⁣#balanceddogtrainingtips ⁣⁣⁣#dogtrainers #dogtrainingadvice ⁣

This one is simple, unfortunately doing things in a way that makes up the most comfortable is not what gets us to our goal- sitting in discomfort and holding ourselves accountable is what gets us there. šŸ‘†

We crate train for safety, potty training, teething schedules, separate anxiety, food aggression, people aggression… the list continues. There are soo many benefits to crate training. One being to teach your dogs how to relax in a confined space on their own. Keeping them away from the trash, chewing furniture, food on counters, wires around the house. The crate is your dogs SAFE space. It’s where they go where they don’t have to worry about anything. Another bit people don’t usually consider is emergency situations- if you need to evacuate a space, your crate is the perfect tool to keep your pets confined and safe while you worry about getting your whole family out securely. Corey recently had a phone call with a potential client who was highly against crate training their reactive and potentially aggressive dog- We want to know your thoughts on the crate, how has it helped or hurt? And did you see any benefits? Let us know below ā¬‡ļø

There’s a HUGE misconception where owners believe they won’t get to where they want be by jumping ahead and not following the BASICS. Downstays in the house? ā€œTotal waste of timeā€ Heeling on leash? ā€œSure, I guess but my dog barks at other dogs on leash.ā€ Asking them to sit every time you come to a stop? ā€œI mean how is that gonna stop them from lunging?!ā€ And the most common- Keeping the leash on in the house. ā€œBut how do I get them to stop OFF leash?!ā€ Here’s the true trick- molding behavior takes time, patience, consistency, AND doing the same mundane thing over and over again. Downstays teach how to slow the brain down, pay attention to your owner, and how to listen and take a command seriously. Heeling on walks teach focus, self control, how to take guidance from their owners, and builds trust that owner will lead them through environments and situations. Having them ā€œsitā€ on walks teaches focus, owner is on top of me, patience, focus on owner more than distractions. Leash on in the house? Faster responses from owner, quick follow through, increases listening skills, decreases anxiousness, strengthens relationships and bonds. Teaches the dog that owner will lead them through the everyday mundane tasks. At home is where barking at the mailman, not responding to ā€œcomeā€ command, anxiously following you around, begging for food, getting in counters, digging in the trash- happen. Home is the epicenter for bad behaviors. So HOME is where we need the most focus!! …..with our basics šŸ˜‰šŸ¤šŸ©·

We build up our skills slowly and incrementally. It’s so important to not skip any steps when teaching your dogs new skills! Something as simple as stepping away from them then stepping towards them is a whole session in itself. This is the way to really make sure our dogs have a full understanding of what we are asking of them! They learn their basics at a high level so in turn, we can use them as a tool to communicate!
