Inspection day! Older homes are often built to last—but they come with things you have to look closely at.
‼️No attic access. In a home this age, that’s something you don’t ignore.
We needed to check for knob-and-tube wiring, an early electrical system (late 1800s–1940s) that isn’t grounded and can become a fire risk if still active.
The sellers had never been in the attic, so we got permission to create access, and will complete with an attic hatch for easy future access. Our inspector is heading back to confirm whether any knob-and-tube is still in use, because even updated homes can have it left behind.
