Adding so many stamps to the passport! We dipped out of Brazil for 2 shows arriving in Santiago at the end of a travel day in search of completos and a restaurant that didnt have an armed guard or a dj. Max and I unexpectedly shared a mountain of meat and eggs. When the price for two is what most meals cost for one it’s hard to tell the difference.
The next day Kevin went for laundry and a few of us went to visit the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception on the top of a mountain. After a stop at the vatican gift shop I was ordered under threat of bodily harm to retrieve some holy water for the stage from a clamshell in the abbey. Physics wouldn’t allow the surface tension of the sanctified water into the mouth of the bottle so I had to fingerblast it into its vessel. Man if I had a dollar for every time…
We did a lot of walking but still had time for a quick bite and a celebratory pint for Cora’s birthday before heading to the venue. We got to see a lot more of Santiago this tour and the more we saw the more beautiful it was.
Sadly the sex shop next to the venue was closed by the time we finished with soundcheck but I did manage to snag some bootleg merch before the show. Say what you will about Santiago they consistently deliver a coffin for us to use for the show!
We wished Cora a HBD from the stage and had a cake and champagne party in the green room til they loaded out the coffin.

A gorgeous flight from Florianópolis to Porto Alegre, home of the big Mate bong (chimarrão) on 4/20 or 20/4 outside the US. Espaço Marin is a trippy venue with a great stage and lighting and a rad crew. The show was fantastic and the band met fans outside the green room and @johannasadonis was gifted a very meaningful rosary before we took off to crash at the hotel.
The next day we had some time before our flight to Santiago so I went for a run through the cemetery and spent like an hour in the grocery store absorbing the glorious minutiae of being thousands of miles from home. I don’t take any of these moments or experiences for granted. Memento Mori.

Our only van journey on this tour brought us from Curitiba to Florianópolis aka Floripa which is just Florida but the d fell over. I kiiiiid, this city is one of the loveliest beach towns in the world and full of cool people like the staff at Celula Showcase who work so hard to make this not just a venue but a creative fixture of the community. Would def come back on vacation.
It was Max’s birthday and we celebrated with some backstage cake and rooftop pool hangs at our hotel that wouldnt let you up to your room without a face scan. (Big Brother is watching)
We compared Brazillian Peanut M&Ms with US ones I smuggled in and in a blind taste test the US ones won by being larger and sweeter but more fake tasting which is an unfair advantage in the candy world and puts their ranking still below South Korea but above Brazil.
