An excerpt from a new animation/video, Puzzling: Too Much but Not Enough, which began with a daily Sudoku. Each day, I paired a completed puzzle with newspaper headlines from places I had lived and newspapers I had read, including La Provence, Le Figaro, the International New York Times, and the Hampshire Gazette. The work contrasts the solvable logic of Sudoku with the often-unsolvable realities reported in the news — wars, political upheaval, social struggles, and events shaping life in the U.S. and Europe, particularly those affecting women. Functioning as both a meditation and a diary (2012–2026), the project documents how I processed the world around me. Set to Mimi Shevitz’s Final Farwell and environmental sound, the animation weaves together over 2,000 puzzles into a reflection on information overload — an accumulation that feels like both too much and not enough — offering an intimate glimpse into a world in flux. #sudoku #animation #feminism #video

“Jane Veeder on Loving Change” by Copper Giloth @coppergilothstudio & Peter Bauman @monkantony Veeder (@jane.veeder ) began her career in electronic media arts in 1976 and became a member of the pioneering Chicago computer graphics community and EVL. Her computer-animation Montana (1982) is part of MoMA’s video collection. Veeder spoke with her longtime friend from the Chicago new media scene, Copper Giloth, as well as Peter Bauman. They cover Veeder’s path from ceramic sculpture to analog video with Phil Morton to real-time computer animation. Veeder’s interactive experiments on the Zgrass machine’s repurposed video game hardware anticipated by decades the game-engine-driven world-building that now anchors major museum collections and biennials. 🫱 lerandom.art/editorial/jane-veeder-on-loving-change *Link to Editorials in bio Mentions: @joantruckenbrod @francisfordcoppola @louiseledeen @saicpics @thisisuic @uicengineering @themuseumofmodernart @ontariosciencecentre @arselectronica @acmsiggraph @sanfranciscostate @atari @lacma

An excerpt from a new video YELLOW that explores my fixation on “disappearing” as both a physical and a conceptual process. Movement, such as walking or running, enables detachment and fuels my writing, which begins in motion rather than stillness. Disappearance also occurs through adopting roles or personas, blending into environments, or imagining alternate identities. This idea extends to a specific piece of land once owned by Emma King Jones, which I use as a focal point to explore absence, history, and invention. By researching and reimagining her life, I create narratives that deepen this sense of vanishing. I propose physically covering the land to obscure it, linking this act to broader themes of grids, structure, and concealment within systems. Ultimately, the work reflects a tension between the desire to escape a fixed identity and an awareness of real-world issues such as violence and injustice, leaving me suspended between withdrawal and engagement.

As part of the celebration for Beryl’s and Erin’s exhibition *Off the Coast of Paradise: Artists and Ossabaw Island, 1961–Now*, Beryl organized a daylong trip to Ossabaw Island. I explored the area with friends and family, and from the photos of myself posing with palms and Spanish moss, I created these images. The photo of dancing with four palms was taken in Savannah, while the one with fake palms was shot at the Savannah train station. Thank you to everyone who graciously photographed me for these images.

My mother made this needlepoint sampler in 1977. She loved details, dots, and the color orange. She made it about the same time I started making images with computers. We were in sync! #needlepoint
