Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet
Debuting in late 1967 for the 1968 model year, the 280 SE superseded the 250 SE as Mercedes-Benz’s top of the range, W111 series, luxury model. Designed by the legendary Paul Bracq, the W111 series brought in a new era of styling to Mercedes-Benz, favouring a cleaner, more squared-off design as compared to the previous generation of top of the range offerings such as the W189 300 Adenauer and W128 Pontons.
The 280 SE is often considered to be one of the most desirable models from Mercedes-Benz, built during what has been referred to Mercedes-Benz’s prime. The cabriolets were elevated even further, with only 1,390 unit built. As the last of the hand-built cars from the marque, the W111 series featured fit and finish throughout that was second to none, with high quality wood trim and a level of attentional to detail not found in any other production car. Another of the stand-out features of the W111 is the exceptional ride quality, on par with or exceeding that of much more modern vehicles, without the troubles or complexity caused by the pneumatic or hydro-pneumatic suspension systems used by its contemporaries in order to achieve similar results. Combined with power and longevity provided by the venerable M130 6-cylinder engine, its easy to see why the 280 SE Cabriolets are so widely admired.
This particular 280 SE is a spectacular example of a highly original car. Sporting a refreshed coat of its original Grey/Beige paint colour over its original dark red leather interior, this striking 280 SE always stands out in a crowd without being ostentatious or garish. It’s easy to see why the original owner promptly purchased the vehicle when their initial lease ended, and continued to cherish it for over 50 years. Featuring power windows and Khulermeister air-conditioning this well optioned example keeps pace with many of the creature comforts we demand of cars today, let alone those of the late 1960’s.
Contact us today for more information about this incredible car. Whether you are looking to cruise the country roads in the Hamptons or a take top-down drive through the heart of Manhattan, this 280 SE never disappoints.

Fifty years on, and it still feels like Porsche just handed over the keys.
This 1972 Porsche 911T Targa is arguably the finest of its kind in the country. Original paint. Original interior. Matching numbers. Even the factory-optioned sport seats and window sticker are still here.
Delivered with the rare, single-year external oil filler, this car has just 63,000 original miles and only 1,200 miles on a full engine rebuild by renowned Porsche specialist Jim Newton.
Owned by a former National President of the Porsche Club of America, it has taken home multiple Concours Preservation awards, and arrives with documentation so detailed, it borders on archival: original registrations dating to ’72, period ads, a full binder of service records, and its original books, jack, tools, and Fuchs wheels.
A museum-quality 911T with the receipts and pedigree to back it up.
