In Episode 12 of the Sunbelt Developers Podcast, he shares how Bauhaus principles and the International Style shaped the way his generation was taught to think about buildings, from eliminating ornament to designing structures as objects in space.
Since co-founding Cooper Carry in 1960, Jerry has helped guide the firm to national prominence, earning more than 100 design awards and shaping projects across education, corporate, government, and office sectors.
A Georgia Tech graduate and former president of AIA Atlanta, his impact on the built environment is deeply rooted in this city.

Clemson University's Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center facilitates alumni, students, future students, university leadership, industry partners, and the community at large. Event and meeting spaces are provided throughout the building to support the diverse mix of users.
The exposed timber core rises through our double-height atrium, creating an instantly warm and welcoming arrival experience. This bright, inviting lobby serves as the main hub connecting all the center's functions.
Every design choice was intentional: creating spaces that feel both grand and approachable, where every visitor feels like they belong.

The Palm Beach Hotel, renovated by Cooper Carry, transforms a once-abandoned motel collection into a celebrated 79-room boutique destination. Located on historic Royal Palm Way, the hotel blends Mediterranean elegance with contemporary design.
Cooper Carry’s design unifies the site into a seamless hospitality experience with 79 rooms and suites that reflect the charm and grandeur of Palm Beach. The architecture captures the rhythm of Mediterranean Revival design, inviting pause, relaxation, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor environments.

Located along International Drive near Orlando's Orange County Convention Center, The Pointe is a 17-acre open-air retail and entertainment destination reimagined to deliver an immersive, hospitality-driven guest experience.
Cooper Carry provided architecture and landscape architecture services to reposition the center into a dynamic mix of dining, nightlife, entertainment, and retail. Every design decision, from outdoor gathering spaces to sightlines and circulation, was made with the guest experience in mind.
The result is a destination that draws people in, keeps them longer, and brings them back.

We are proud to celebrate the grand opening of City House, Old Town, an adaptive reuse project, breathing new life into a well-known Alexandria office building and reimagining it as a collection of distinguished luxury apartments in the heart of Old Town. It is a testament to what is possible when thoughtful design meets a deep respect for place in history.
The evening was a beautiful gathering of residents, community members, and distinguished guests, including Joseph Haggerty from the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and former city of Alexandria mayor, Justin Wilson. A look back at Rumi's Kitchen Colony Square.
Located in the heart of Atlanta, The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry was tasked with creating an authentic vision of a modern Persian restaurant. Working closely with the owner, we wove subtle, meaningful details throughout the design to honor the essence of Persian hospitality and culture.
The result is an elegant yet comfortable space that transitions seamlessly from a business lunch to an intimate dinner setting. The fluid movement of whirling dervishes, the artistry of Persian calligraphy, and rustic old-world architectural elements served as guiding inspiration. Traditional gold and Persian blue weave through the palette, while a chimney fireplace and lush biophilia bring warmth and life to the interior. For a more relaxed experience, guests can step outside to the patio and take in the energy of the surrounding streetscape.
