I just learned that the hallowed Seattle club Comedy Underground in Seattle is closing its doors. That's a bummer for a number of reasons. Mainly because its where I briefly cut my teeth in stand up comedy. My stand up foray was short for a number of other reasons but the only reason I got the opp to be on stage (in a non-open mic context) in the first place was due to my talented, industrious and generous friend @themichellemorris - It was her show (called Orally Fixated) that she booked, curated AND hosted. It was a really fun period in my life. I learned quite a bit in a short period of time.. and that was just in the green room. And it was a major catalyst that pinballed me towards comedy writing. Yay for the experiences! Nay for the closing of a historical comedy venue.

Today marks the five year anniversary of Oranges, the scrappy little web series I made with my partner in crime, love and art @macaasa . First script(s) of mine I saw come to life. First time directing. First time many things! Oh, what's that? You ain't seen it? Give it a watch, it's three eps and altogether it's like 7 minutes or something. That time a thrift store shirt asked me to Tolo... I said yes, a thousand times yes! We had a great time. The night was off the rack. It was a garment to remember.
It was seven years ago today that I foolishly decided to "run" a grueling "obstacle" course with @elldubphoto . We were Team Zissou. The race photog seemed to enjoy my pain. My pain is very photogenic.

RIP to Gift of Gab. A singular artist. A virtuosoic conversationalist. A savant- like technician. A master of the craft of both the written and spoken word. Thank you for all the "talks" we've had over the years. Anyone that listened to him and/or Blackalicious catalog knows what I mean. He made it feel he was talking to you and only you. Every song was the most publicly personal one on ones. ...I'm crushed.
Back in 2016 I wrote a couple small skits. My beautiful, inimitable partner @macaasa said "hey, we should make these!" and I was like "huh?". I didn't understand. I was just writing scripts. Fast fwd a few months later and those skits became "Oranges", a very short form three part web series. And here I am/was, first time director! The only way it happened was the super talented group of people that believed in the project. For example, the three people behind me in this photo collectively have tons of film knowledge, experience and passion. They are a creative and technical Voltron and they guided this Bambi learning to walk for the first time through the forest of a production and I'll be forever grateful to them.
So here I am in FULL Seattle regalia (Real Seattlites don't use umbrellas, I was protecting the equip!).
