My birthday (4/28) and Akwaaba anniversary (4/29) somehow ended up side by side… which feels fitting!
Somewhere between the beautiful conversations, the creativity, and the community… I became even more myself.

19 years in the making 👨🏾🎨
Though I didn’t know anything about autism at the time, I knew early on that my job as Max’s mom was to equip him with everything he needed and position him to thrive no matter what. I never wanted his diagnosis to define him — only help me better understand him and help him understand himself.
Art chose him early. By the age of 5, we could find him drawing for hours at a time. It was never just something he liked to do — it was how he expressed himself and connected to the world around him.
19 years ago, I gave birth to an artist 👨🏾🎨
Today, I’m so proud to introduce Studio Max — my son’s art brand!
To my handsome, intelligent, and incredibly talented son… Happy Birthday 🤍👨🏾🎨 Now you share your art with the world 🌎🙌🏾❤️
Today was the first Studio Max show — and only the beginning.

Shout out to his dad and bonus mom, my boss and mentor Monique, my mom, sisters, aunties, friends, family, and my Akwaaba family — thank you for loving on me and my son and helping make today so special. We felt every bit of it 🤍
And to the parents of neurodivergent children: our children all have gifts. Help them discover them, nurture them, and understand that success may not always look conventional — but it is still success! ✨✨

Love Being A Fly On The Wall During The Creative Process 📸
15 months ago I walked into something I knew absolutely nothing about.
Today, I am officially a climber and pruner.
This journey started with 3AM alarms. Two-hour commutes to Queens. 6AM two-mile runs in every type of weather — heat, cold, rain, didn’t matter. It wasn’t convenient. It wasn’t comfortable. But it was necessary.
I faced fears head-on.
Climbed 60+ foot trees.
Overcame my fear of heights… and birds.
Silenced imposter syndrome.
I learned a completely new skill. A new trade. A new career. I didn’t grow up around arborists. I didn’t know tree work. I just knew I was willing to learn.
Along the way, I built real friendships. Earned respect. And more importantly, I learned who I am when things get tough
What’s for me is for me.
Five promotions in under three years. 🤫
Grateful. Proud. Still hungry.
This is just the beginning. 🌳💪🏾
