Yesterday we jumped into the bakery and we learnt about the history of the bagel, and why we would boil dough before baking it, giving it that dense and chewy texture, with added honey to give it that extra shine.
We also made some fresh jalapeño & strawberry jam and cheese spread to serve with the bagels.
We made some choc chips cookies too, crispy around the edges but soft in the centre. The protégés all had their hands in the dough, each forming their own cookies.

Today was more about teaching various cooking methods and how we could utelise those methods in various dishes. Ofcourse we had to chow down after, but there was defnitly a learning experience.
