We were proud to deliver Building Control services for Crown Place, Birmingham, a landmark PBSA development in the heart of the city.
This scheme delivered 814 high-quality student beds within a striking 33-storey tower, complemented by adjoining blocks of 12 and 9 storeys, making a bold addition to Birmingham’s skyline.
Designed with both functionality and student wellbeing at its core, Crown Place offers a diverse range of accommodation, including studios, duplex cluster flats, and single cluster flats. The development is further enhanced by 695 sqm of thoughtfully designed social and amenity spaces, including a cinema, karaoke rooms, gym, yoga studio, retro video games room, and dedicated study areas.
Residents also benefit from premium features such as private dining rooms, a roof terrace, and a sky lounge on level 32, providing exceptional views across the city.
Throughout the project, Cook Brown Building Control worked in close collaboration with the client, design, and construction teams to ensure full compliance with building regulations, helping to deliver a safe, high-quality living environment.

This ambitious project spanned the basement, ground floor, first floor and ninth level, transforming the building’s presence and enhancing the experience for occupiers and visitors alike. Key upgrades included a fully modernised reception, a new business lounge, and a vibrant café space.
One of the primary challenges was unlocking the potential of a large, open-plan reception that previously lacked energy and identity. The client’s vision was to create a compelling arrival experience that would attract new tenants while elevating amenities for existing occupants.
Through careful planning and close collaboration with the building management team, the works were delivered within budget and seamlessly integrated into a live, multi-occupied environment, ensuring minimal disruption throughout.
A fantastic transformation within one of Birmingham’s most established office hubs.

We recently provided independent Building Control services for the Department for Work and Pensions Jobcentre office in Macclesfield, as part of a £500,000 refurbishment project delivered over an eight-week programme.
With the works taking place on a live site, careful planning and a staged delivery approach were essential to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations.
