A whirlwind 24 hours to Ireland and back for (beautiful) Shona and James’ wedding. Magic. The best fun topped off with a fry up and a hangover-busting “swim” in the sea. (Turns out the water was not warm)
🚨I spent a year hanging out with a truly fantastic team on The Times Magazine doing a mat cover for the features editor. Commissioned some fun features (a few here), worked with excellent writers, forgot my work pass on a weekly basis. Now find me over on Times2 - another mat cover for the deputy ed. Inbox is always open for pitches (anything newsy or first person works best) or just say hi - 👋[email protected]
Lads on tour in Tenerife! Lads being an 89 year old, an 88 year old, etc, all the way to a four-month-old baby. Total carnage of a girls trip. Still recovering from doing potty training amid the chaos. Quite iconic that gran drank cava for breakfast, got involved in the water aerobics class and won the bingo twice in one evening. Goals.
“I was impatient to see Dominique in court. The others I feared because of how many there were. I found myself worrying more and more about the closed door of the courtroom, which was supposed to protect me from the prying eyes of the public and the media. I was beginning to realise that a closed hearing meant I would be alone with them. Locked in with them.”
Exclusive extracts from Gisèle Pelicot’s powerful memoir A Hymn To Life are running in The Times this week. Read the first today, on Gisèle’s decision to waive her anonymity. Thanks @bethankjones@vintagebooks Link in bio.
It was a family holiday like no other… the kids swam in infinity pools, a lake, dived into a ball pit and bounced in a giant subterreanean trampoline park. They rode a pony, petted a pig and every night they tormented a hotel staffer dressed as a giant chicken. And all this to the backdrop of the glorious Austrian mountains. They were indignant they had to have to leave to make way for more guests. Thanks so much Moar Gut @familienresort_moargut@grifcopr
A flying visit to Brooklyn. Pastries. Dive bars. A Knicks basketball game. Ran over the Williamsburg bridge. Nearly missed my flight home. And we bumped into Pete Davidson twice. So perfect, thanks Maeve and Henry x
I wrote a piece about my daughter Marion for The Times Magazine. It’s her second birthday today and I’m very lucky that she’s climbing all over me as I try to type this caption. As far as pregnancies go, it was a hectic one. So many people were there for us and I’m very grateful. Sending lots of love to anyone who has had any kind of tricky experience in this way. The biggest thanks to my editor Nicola Jeal for Marion’s print debut! (And to my pal David for the early read.)x ps. It’s 8am and the kids are already at the dressing up box. The calm coffee moment is over.
Just finished my year on T2, The Times. It’s been a real joy working with an incredible features team and covering a mat leave for the deputy Alice Azania-Jarvis. Biggest thanks to Nicola Jeal and Grace Bradberry. 🙌
Finishing on the high of a mislaid work pass and carting home a giant bag of under the desk shoes. (Pictured: missing work pass photo) Over and out at The Times for 2024
