Yall, I am out here doing a lot and l loving every second of it. However, I acknowledge that it is a struggle to be on top of getting the word out. Being an artist, art administrator, educator, active cultural vigilante has me in a the places. So I hope you value this post a viable means of communication and dont judge on the short notice texts, calls, and emails yall about to get. Love yall ans thanks for all the support in advance. Event breakdown is below w/ all links to RSVP in my bio.
1) While my role as AFH's Residency Coordinator is shiny and new, my dedication to this space, program, and art is not. Come through to check out the work of our 7 artists-in-residence. We will have some drumming and activations happening through the night. Two days equal two opportunities to engage with the art in anticipation of our upcoming exhibition in July.
2) Did someone say Bingo?!?! I Love me some Bingo and I Love me The Bronx. Two Loves combined with prizes sounds like a great way to enjoy Bronx Week!! Whether you are from The Bronx or not, join us for a night of old skool fun.
3) In Our Hands Artist Talk & Performance. Last exhibition and offering (aka performance) happened about 2 years ago. This is the first time all my flags are in conversation with each other and my offering will give birth to another. This experience had been experiment. This Saturday is an invitation to experiment with me.
4) Pages II Poses is B-A-C-K! And we are honoring Haitian Heritage, Feminist Thought, Pleasure/Desire, and good ole Gemini energy x 2. Jazy & I celebrating our birthdays!!! Yall never had books read to you like this. PIIPs has yet to disappoint and we aren't starting now.
That's all I got for my updates. Remember links for everything is in my bio.

This video provides updates about what is happening with me and The Bronx Museum.
@artcube What is the rubric that determines who is shaping the art world? @shamim.m.momin is the Director of The Bronx Museum and is currently covering up and enabling abuse of power enacted by @patrickdrowe . Despite my attempts to genuinely resolve this matter, she continues to choose silence and passivity rather than handling it with integrity.
@expochicago I wanted to point out the irony of @shamim.m.momin being on the Dialogue panel Directors Summit | Model Museum: Artistic Vision and Public Responsibility when currently she is opting to further silence an artist from the Bronx, instead of handling a serious matter regarding abuse of power at the hands of @patrickdrowe . She is NOT considering her responsibility to the public of the Museum and its core values.
If @artcube & @expochicago have questions, I am open to sharing the full scope of what is happening in real-time.
🎤 We are so excited to be joined by tasha dougé who will be our MC for the night!!
tasha dougé (she/her) is a Queens-born, Bronx-bred and based, Haitian-infused conceptual visual and performance artist, activist, and cultural vigilante whose work lives at the intersection of art, intention, and community care. Her multidisciplinary practice challenges ideas of identity, history, and iconography and explores memory, time, and nature through the lens of Black womanhood. She uses her art as a tool for reflection, connection, transformation, and collective imagining.
Born on a Tuesday with a Gemini (♊)and Libra (♎) stellium, tasha brings balance, curiosity, and joy into the spaces she cultivates. Deeply rooted in and accountable to her community, she is devoted to women’s empowerment, honoring Black people and their contributions, and using her voice as the first tool in her art arsenal. She approaches facilitation as a shared ritual-creating space for dreaming out loud, visioning boldly, and building together.

One of my proudest moments in life was being asked to join the lineup for this event celebrating Audre Lorde at @schomburgcenter . Words can't express how humbled I am to be recognized for my dedication to her and her words. Tomorrow will be a testament and a testimony to how she has transformed the woman you witness today.
Link to join the celebration is in my bio.

Just a brief video clarifying why I did what I did regarding @bronxmuseum and what next steps are. Hear me when I say, Speaking Truth to Power, the Truth starts Spilling. If you have a story you want to share, I will listen. Thank You to Bayard Rustin for coining this term. I love that learning continues to happen even in chaos.
Come through this Friday for books, laughs, good music, and community.

@bronxmuseum Who wants to explain how we got from the asset on the left to the asset on the right? Is going nameless a new institution standard for events. Let US know. We will wait. And by US and WE, im talking about me and the community that supports me, even those who never met me. Photo is courtesy of one of those community members. #StreetsAreWatching
