My entire career, I’ve always said things like, “I’m a behind-the-scenes hairstylist,” or “I’d rather be the student than the educator.” But look at me now. ✨
Back in October 2023, I joined Ted Gibson, Jason Backe, and Nakisha Rivergreen in Toronto to assist backstage at a hair show. Right before they went on stage, Ted told Nakisha and me to go get mic’d up. I was terrified — not of being on stage, but of speaking on stage. Then they handed me a Britney mic… and something shifted. Suddenly, I transformed. We did two shows, and I survived. 😂
Fast forward to Convergence 2026 in Palm Springs — a first-of-its-kind beauty, wellness, and science summit created by my mentors Ted and Jason. I had the incredible opportunity to join the team again, this time not only assisting, but collaborating, creating, and presenting alongside so many peers, mentors, and industry leaders I admire deeply.
I think my favorite role in this industry will always be the student. But educating, sharing, and stepping into the spotlight every once in a while? That’s pretty special too. 🤍
