"I Am No One" - Song discussion...
Today, here in the US, it's supposed to be a 'day of thanks.' And I am thankful for the time I spent in the darkness. Not at all for what made it dark, but that I endured, persevered, and came out the otherside.
It was the hardest time of my life, and I survived. And this is what "I Am No One" is about.
The first lines in the song:
"This metamorphosis.
We change as dialectic formations unravel. Disintegrating all but my construct......
Target and sacrifice of the ego
I'm only scratching the surface of healing.
A path that I must tread alone."
We all have the ability to break under certain pressures. The world and life over all is a constant wat of attrition. We, as humans, pushing back against society, oppression, struggle, entropy, time, and of course death. While all of these push back.
While it may sound nihilistic, we are so small in comparison to the cosmic scheme of things.... but our voice, and presence, and our influence can mean the world to even a handful of people.
Yes... I am truly no one, and we all are.
But our influence and our actions can be eternal. Ripples in time and reality that cascade through the ages and create a domino effect to reach those we will never know, see, or physically touch.
This is what the second half of the song represents. The after effect.
While the first section of the song is rife with chaotic riffs and time signature changes, describing the process amongst this chaos...
In the second half, my voice is no longer present, but the music continues... the changes have created their waves and move outwards through time to create something new....
I longer fear the darkness. I have become one with it, and integrated through my DNA. And, for those who are struggling, I hope the same for you. And maybe this song will help. ππΌππ€
