COLLECTION IV: FRAMEWORK
Last Saturday, we officially launched our latest collection entitled FRAMEWORK at Reducto De San Pedro. Pieces from the collection were hung on reclaimed doors allowing guests to view and feel the garments at an eye level, almost as if they were taking them from their personal closets. Together with the nature of the location, this presentation gave room for an intimate and tactile first-hand experience of the collection.
Exercise in building off past ideas and silhouettes, all while developing a sense of excitement for what’s possible, inform the main intention behind FRAMEWORK. Textured, natural fabrics in the form of various weaves become the center point of every piece, while cuts and fits remain soft for a sense of fluidness. A new signature design detail that involves intensively sewing strips of fabric one by one to create a forced “striped” fabric is also debuted in a suiting piece. Hand-dyeing using natural dyes were also explored, allowing us to integrate a slower approach in product development. Lastly, all the pieces were finished through the use of only brass buttons as means of closure.
The collection is now available for pre-order/purchase at constructionlayers.com

[BACKGROUND]
At the heart of the event was a towering, tree-like metal pole, standing at 4 meters tall, which showcased the collection and paid homage to the “Pole Pieces” sculpture featured in “The Woven Child,” a retrospective by the late renowned French-American artist Louise Bourgeois.
Bourgeois’ artworks often explored the connection between textiles and intimacy. In “Pole Pieces,” she suspended old clothing from her childhood and her mother’s on cattle bones, evoking themes of femininity, trauma, and repair. These garments, laden with personal history, bore the inscriptions “Seamstress, Mistress, Distress, Stress” on the sculpture’s base, underscoring the familial and psychological influences on Bourgeois.
Recognizing parallels between Bourgeois’ work and the essence of our collection, we chose to present our garments in a similar fashion, albeit recontextualized to suit the raw ambiance of the venue. The Penthouse’s lofty ceiling provided a fitting backdrop for the towering installation, while the “branches” holding the garments allowed attendees to encircle the display, engaging with the collection on a tactile level, fostering an intimate experience for all.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who supported the launch of “ENVISAGE.” This collection stands as a testament to our dedication to progression, made possible by your unwavering encouragement. This marks just the beginning of our journey.
