Despite her significant contributions to cubism, futurism, and constructivism, Alexandra Exter remains relatively unknown to the public. After surviving a civil war, she escaped the Soviet Union during the 1924 Venice Biennale and settled in Paris. She divided her time between painting, stage design, book illustration, and teaching.
Her works are included in major international collections such as The Victoria and Albert Museum, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Saint-Etienne, and The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. However, the tumultuous history of the 20th century has affected the recognition of her work.
➡️ To combat forgeries, my father, Andrei Nakov, established the Association Alexandra Exter. My sister, Iris Nakov, and I now lead the Association, working to protect her legacy. We urge professionals to be cautious about the authenticity of works attributed to her.

Thank you very much to @centrepompidou and Laurent Le Bon for this wonderful tribute to my father, Andrei Nakov.
Known for his work on Kazimir Malevich and Wassily Kandinsky. He was a man of great knowledge, a scholar, a great teacher who couldn’t stop learning and sharing his discoveries with others. His great research on Malevich, received the prestigious reward by the @academiedesbeauxarts . When interviewed after it was published, he answered to the journalist « I hope my book will help to increase other people’s interest for this subject. »
My family is happy to announce the creation of a schorlarship for art historians in Modern art, to promote research in Art history keeping his passion alive. More info soon.
Special thanks for their contribution to the event to Jozef Grabski, Art Historian Head of the Institute for Art Historical Research IRSA, Catherine Thieck @clara8_rain , former Director of the Galerie de France, Lorenzo Lebovici, Editions Ivrea, Jean de Loisy @jeandeloisy , art critic and curator.

The Scream, recreating using paper clips by Adam Hillman.
Items like paper clips typically clutter junk drawers, but for artist Adam Hillman, these everyday items make perfect materials for creating visually soothing, colorful arrangements. Hillman calls himself an “Object Arranger,” but his work is more than just positioning items neatly. He uses paper clips, coins, toothpicks, edible ingredients, and more to create visually striking flat lay art. And while many of his works are non-representational patterns, Hillman has recently been creating compositions inspired by famous paintings from art history. From Van Gogh’s Starry Night to Picasso’s Guernica, each iconic artwork is reimagined in Hillman’s playful style. In one work, the innovative artist uses broken bits of cereal to recreate one of Van Gogh’s self-portraits. And in another, colored paper clips are arranged to look like the paint strokes in Edvard Munch’s The Scream. Although each colorful composition is made using found objects, they still celebrate the original artworks’ expressive quality. Each hand-placed object acts as an expressive brushstroke or stippled dot in a pointillism painting. #Art #ArtInspiration #ModernArt #ContemporaryArt #Artistic #ArtCommunity #ArtLovers #CreativeArt #FlatLayArt #PaperClipArt #ObjectArranger #EverydayObjects #FoundObjectArt #ColorfulArt #VisualArt #ArtisticExpression #AdamHillman #ArtRecreation #ArtHistory #Picasso #TheScream #Munch #StarryNight #SelfPortrait #Pointillism #ArtInstallation #FineArt #innovativeart
Inside Lenny Kravitz’s Paris Townhouse – And The Story Behind That Basquiat
What isn’t rare is the number of museum pieces in every room – there are Warhols and pop culture artefacts, and a huge Basquiat in the entrance hall, across from the sweeping staircase. “Lots of his art came my way. I could have had so many more and I just didn’t make the move back in the day – I know, I know. Idiot! We weren’t friends, but I was roommates with a guy he’d lived with. His last girlfriend was best friends with my girlfriend at the time, so when he died we had one of the first calls. Anyway, I have this one and I’m happy to have it.”
