@zac_eastwood_bloom Commissionedfor The Woolf Institute at Cambridge University, ‘The Confusion’ is a sculpture that symbolises The Woolf Institutes research into the relationships between the three Abrahamic Religions; Christianity, Judaism and Islam. ‘The Confusion’ is an Islamic geometric pattern ‘pulled’ into three dimensions. From the entrance of the building the sculpture looks like a collection of gold lines but view the sculpture form other areas of the building the true geometry of the structure comes into view. ‘The Confusion’ is a metaphor for looking at things from different points of view. On this International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the resilience and strength of working women especially those in challenging industries. Achieving parity in the workplace requires action, not just words. It’s crucial that we actively support one another, don’t just say the words- act on them ! And to all the incredible women juggling careers while raising children, grappling with guilt yet driven by commitment—you can do it, you’re nailing it. Your determination inspires. And if anyone says the phrase to you ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you strong’ your answer should be ‘ you’re a brave man’ . Happy International Women’s Day! #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2023 #WomenEmpowerment #WorkingWomen #StrengthInResilience #WomenInLeadership #SupportWomen #WomenSupportingWomen #WorkLifeBalance #MomBoss #WomenInChallengingIndustries #ActOnIt #Inspiration #YouGotThis #CelebrateWomen #EmpoweredWomen #BraveWomen #

#saudimuseumof contemporaryart @jaxdistrict In a world dominated by the relentless flow of images and information—a phenomenon often referred to as “Googleisation”—our perception is frequently overwhelmed, making it challenging to achieve deeper understanding. The exhibition #ArtoftheKingdom” delves into the realm of poetic illuminations, showcasing artists who not only push the boundaries of third practice but also create deeply conceptual and thought-provoking works that resonate with the pressing questions of today’s society, particularly in the age of social media. Featured artists whose installations challenge conventional narratives and invite viewers to engage critically with their surroundings known for their innovative use of diverse mediums to interrogate themes of memory and identity creating thought-provoking artworks reflecting the complexities of contemporary life and societal expectations. Beautiful exhibition at @hafezgallery “Homes of Memory” a solo exhibition by contemporary Saudi artist @bashaer.hawsawi 💖💖💖✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨presenting her latest collaborative project through deeply personal and poignant visual narratives. Grounded in stories that connect the past to the present, Hawsawi’s work explores the intricate relationships between memory, identity, and belonging. Inspired by her upbringing in the spiritual landscapes of Mecca and Jeddah, where the sacred rituals of pilgrimage intertwine with the intimate rhythms of daily life, Hawsawi’s practice celebrates the narratives that arise from the rituals and traditions shaping our identities. Drawing influence from her parents’ lived experiences and enriched by fabrics brought by pilgrims from around the globe—spanning China, India, and Africa—Hawsawi transforms these materials into vessels of memory, reflecting the intimacy of shared spaces and the invisible threads linking us to our heritage. Utilizing mixed media, ceramics, and textiles, Hawsawi revives these stories, illuminating the profound beauty found in our everyday rituals. Her art speaks to the essence of home life, the ceremonial act of cleansing, and the deep connections fostered through communal activities. Through the symbolism of palm fronds and the functional poetry of brooms and carpets, her work investigates how seemingly ordinary objects can serve as repositories of collective memory and cultural identity. “Homes of Memory” invites viewers to delve into the spaces between memory and identity, encouraging reflection on how traditions, materials, and rituals shape our sense of self and our connection to the world around us. #HomesOfMemory @bashaer.hawsawi #ContemporaryArt #ArtExhibition #Memory #Identity #Belonging #CulturalNarratives #SpiritualLandscapes #Mecca #Jeddah #Rituals #Traditions #MixedMedia #Ceramics #Textiles #PublicArt #ArtCommissions #CollectiveMemory #CulturalIdentity #ArtAndLife #EverydayRituals #VesselsOfMemory #IntimacyOfHome #ArtInPublicSpaces #ArtisticNarrative #VisualArt #sharedspaces

@daydbanart @athrart Ayman Yossri Daydban expounds on his seminal Ihramat series, (2012 with a new iteration titled, Winter. The simple Ihram, a plain white cloth worn by pilgrims in Islam, has long been a perfect vehicle for the artist. The stretched material over rectangular wooden panels evoke male bodies, painterly abstractions or reliefs. The series sits neatly within the artist’s behemoth practice that has long used objects of language, religion, geography and trade as frameworks to explore themes of identity and belonging. Within this new iteration, the Ihram as an object is pushed beyond a temporal reality; establishing the weaved object, now thickened with fur and other course yarn, within climatic changes. The blanket-like object shifts beyond how we fantasize it; its geometric abstractions metamorphosizing: #AymanYossriDaydban #IhramatSeries #ContemporaryArt #ArtisticExploration #IdentityAndBelonging #IslamicArt #CulturalIdentity #ArtAndReligion #GeometricAbstraction #VisualArt #ArtInstallation #WinterIteration #Pilgrimage #ArtInspiration #MaterialityInArt #ArtisticMetamorphosis #abstractart

@jamesturell @rcu_ksa @artsalula #wadialfann American artist James Turrell (b.1943) uses space and light as the medium of his art. He transforms enclosed spaces into intimate and profound experiences of light and color as well as building architectonic scale pavilions in cities and natural landscapes that engage the sky and the cosmos. This exhibition presents documentation of the monumental sequence of chambers for his upcoming commission for Wadi AlFann, AlUla. It also includes three early works, each a meditation on the nature of seeing. Alta (1968) transforms the dim corner of a room into an ethereal luminous pink pyramid that appears sculptural. An installation works evokes an abstract version of the flickering light of an old fashioned television screen. An example from his Hologram series produces the experience of a fragment of pure light fixed and floating in space. These works generate what Turrell describes as ‘the wordless thought that comes from looking at fire? Turrell lives and works in Flagstaff, USA the site of Roden Crater an epic work set in a volcanic cone in the Arizona desert. His Skyspaces and pavilions are located around the world. This exhibition is curated by Michael Govan, CEO of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art where he curated Turrell’s major retrospective exhibition in 2013. Part of the AlUla Arts Festival, this exhibition continues in Madrasat Addeera, part of the AlJadidah Arts District.

Tarek Atoui: Bayt Al Hams - a long-term project and residency in AlUla The contemporary art museum and artist Tarek Atoui are initiating Al Ghasaq, a three-year project in AlUla, beginning with the launch of Bayt Al Hams - The Whispering House. This exhibition and listening space are designed to explore sound practices through performance, education, and production. At AlWarsha, the contemporary art museum is committed to providing a platform by showcasing Bayt Al Hams, for collaborating with local musicians, schools, and craftspeople, fostering connections between contemporary sound practices and AlUla’s cultural and environmental heritage. Tarek Atoui is a contemporary artist and composer whose artistic practice focuses on exploring sound and experience in a multidisciplinary context across various museums worldwide. His work stems from in-depth research into music history and instrumentation, centring on large-scale performances that investigate innovative production methods. This space will provide workshops that will serve as a foundation for the long-term project Al Ghasaq - The Dusk, fostering collaboration and skill-sharing between the participants. Over the next three years, the project aims to evolve into a dynamic dialogue that bridges traditional and contemporary approaches to sound, performance, and craftsmanship in AlUla.
