Un projet un peu fou…les couleurs de Provence sur le mur du Hameau des Baux ! C’était cet été, j’étais plongée jusqu’au cœur dans les tableaux de Matisse et ma jeunesse textile. J’étais baignée de lumière, de soleil et de la douceur des lieux. Je peignais la nuit, le jour et quand j’ai eu fini, je me suis demandé ce que ce travail, venu de si loin en moi, pourrait bien devenir dans mon parcours : une parenthèse ou une remise en route vers la couleur ? Quelques mois plus tard, je me dis … un peu les deux et alors je saute le pas et vous montre mon jardin secret. Blending still lifes and portraits, his work brings together familiar figures and imaginary beings. C’est un retour dans son territoire pour Arsène puisque l’exposition a lieu au non moins sublime Hameau des Baux (@lespetites_maisons ) sur une invitation de @constancebreton . « Né à Paris (FR) en 1993, Arsène Welkin vit et travaille à #Arles Après avoir étudié la philosophie à l’université Paris-Sorbonne, le #peintre et musicien autodidacte se fait remarquer lors d’une exposition à @lamaisonclosearles (Arles) en 2020. Animé par une quête d’épure et de contemplation, son travail prend forme à travers des #naturesmortes et des #portraits où des figures familières côtoient des êtres imaginaires, souvent imprégnés de références historiques et mythologiques. S’en suivent une résidence au Château de Tarascon ainsi qu’un premier solo show chez Double V - Marseille. Welkin poursuit son chemin avec une résidence au Riad jardin secret de Marrakech, ainsi qu’une exposition collective par The Tesoro, cet été à Amsterdam. Au gré de ses résidences, l’artiste s’imprègne des territoires où il vit pour élargir son univers visuels figuratif, fait de personnages et de scènes de vie faussement naives représentés au pastel et à la #peinturealhuile . Après avoir présenté son travail à Art Paris en 2022, la galerie lui dédie son premier solo show à Paris avant de l’exposer à la foire Future Fair à New-York en mai 2023. En 2024, Arsène Welkin est à nouveau mis en avant à Art Paris en avril, puis à Future Fair New-York en mai. On the occasion of the Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles the hotel le Hameau des Baux together with Constance Breton gives Carte Blanche to the Fisheye Gallery. The exhibition brings together six visual female photographers: Léa Habourdin, Ilanit Illouz, Almudena Romero, Laure Winants, Juliette Alhmah and Tamaki Yoshida. Felice Varini’s new solo exhibition at Michael Fuchs Galerie is now officially opened until June 28th Come by and discover the astonishing artwork and in situ installations of Varini who is mostly known for his geometric perspective-localized paintings in rooms and other spaces. Being celebrated as one of the most interesting artist of his generation Felice Varini has exhibited worldwide. The artist paints on architectural and urban spaces, such as streets, buildings, public monuments, etc., both indoors and outdoors. Varini is interested in the thematic of representation and the viewer’s perception. His work establishes a permanent dialogue between the site of its creation and its perception. Varini’s artworks are intended to be seen both as fragments and as a whole as the comprehension of his works can be altered according to the viewers’ vantage point (usually a simple geometric shape such as circle, square, line). Last July we opened Le Hameau des Baux in Provence- the first gem of a new hotel collection Les Petites Maisons which aims to make you feel like staying at a beautiful cosy friends house where art and joie de vivre are omnipresent! I was thrilled to be part of this project by implementing art in every part of the hotel. From building a collection of limited editions and prints for each room, to curating temporary exhibition in the public premises of the hotel in collaboration with local and international galleries, as well as creating an art guide with all of our favorite artistic escapades in the region and welcoming artists in our residency within the hotel… we tried to create through art an unforgettable experience for our guests! At le Hameau des Baux you will learn to appreciate and experience art in an understated and easy way. We chose to present works from established artists as well as upcoming talents, to support the local artists as well as international ones and to keep a main focus of inspiration through nature, happiness and humor.
