Last night we were part of a conversation that sits close to our work at BabMasr.
At the eighth edition of Climate Connect in the panel titled “Can We Talk About the Planet While the World Is Burning? ”journalist and Bab Masr founder Fatemah Farag made the case that the crisis in climate coverage isn’t just about attention or will. It’s structural.
Newsrooms in survival mode make decisions about resources, and environment reporting is consistently among the first casualties. Like gender coverage before it, it gets siloed, a dedicated beat on the margins rather than a lens woven through all storytelling.
For a publication rooted in Egyptian culture and heritage, the environmental thread runs through everything: land, water, agricultural tradition, urban change. This conversation reminded us why it can’t be treated as a separate chapter.

Through careful restoration, the building was reimagined into Consoleya Downtown’s co-working hub, designed for a new generation of passionate entrepreneurs shaping Egypt’s future.
Today, Consoleya stands as more than a workspace.
It is a living space — hosting a dynamic mix of corporate, cultural, and creative events — where heritage and innovation meet under one roof.
Our students took over downtown with a creative treasure hunt at Consoleya—organized by Carpe Diem and facilitated by Ismailia Real Estate Company. 🎬✨
Digital Media, Interior & Architecture Design, and Film Production students joined forces to transform the city into a living classroom of innovation and collaboration.
